The Batwa people – locally known as the keepers of the forest
are one of the most vulnerable, marginalized and endangered
groups of people in Africa.

For thousands of years the Batwa survived by hunting small

game using arrows or nets & gathering plants & fruit in the
rainforests, until they were violently evicted from their home
in 1992.

The history of these small-statured people is long and rich.

Once nomadic hunters & gathers who lived in harmony with
the jungle they were reduced to landless squatters and faced
severe poverty with no way to generate income and forbidden
to return to the forest they called home for thousands of years.

In the past years the Batwa have adapted as best they can and
taken to re-enacting their ancient ways for tourists coming
to visit the mountain gorillas, but with COVID causing global
lock-downs the tourists have stopped and the Batwa face dire
poverty without even enough money to buy food.

We are working with a grassroots charity in Uganda to help

provide food and looking into the future to work to create
a sustainable future for the Batwa people & preserve this

THE FRANKIE WRAP SKIRT
IS A RE LAXE D SUMMER
STAPLE, WITH A BEAUTIFUL
FEMININE FRILL...
MATERIAL
WOVEN - NON STRETCH - GOOD DRAPE
Rayon or Viscose is highly recommended for a
relaxed floating frill or you can opt for a slightly
stiffer cotton for a more dramatic frill.
The frill is designed to cascade down the front
GARMENT DETAILS
of the skirt, depending on your desired effect
you can opt for a fabric with less or more drape.
We love the relaxed summer vibes of Rayon
or Viscose but you could also go for a more
formal effect using a silky fabric or a stiffer
linen or cotton for a more dramatic frill.
Please check the cutting plan for specific
lengths of the waistband.

LIST OF THE THINGS YOU WILL NEED:

= Rotary cutter, mat & weights (or scissors)

For fabric consumption & your cutting plan
check your PDF pattern. Always be sure to
pre-wash & iron your fabric before you start
cutting!
Also you will need to print & stick together the
pattern. Remember to recycle paper scraps &
keep the pattern safe for future sewing.

Our patterns can we printed on A4 or US Letter (8.5” x 11.0”) sized paper.

To make printing a dream, we recommend downloading Adobe Acrobat to view

and print your PDF pattern. You only need the free version and you can download
it https://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/

Make sure you select “Actual Size” when printing, do not select “scale to fit”.

We suggest you test print the second page only of your downloaded pattern first

and measure the 3cm lines to make sure your pattern has printed to the correct size.

SEWING DIFFICULTY : A CHILL EXPERIENCE

The ethos of made label is to get everyone creating their

dream wardrobes no matter what their skill level. And we are
working hard on making the process as easy as possible but
we totally understand when you are starting out it’s good to
have some indication of how tricky a pattern is.

This pattern is rated as A CHILLED SEWING EXPERIENCE –

this is our easiest sewing level and is perfect for a beginner
or just a nice easy project if you have a few more stitches
under your belt. Don’t be intimidated by the waistband... just
give it a go!

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE

For the Frankie Skirt as it’s a wrap skirt it is very forgiving

with sizing - so you could just jump right in. Just measure
your waist where you want the skirt to sit at it’s highest point.

Finished garment sizing for the Frankie Wrap Skirt. We recommend measuring your waist
at the highest point you want the skirt to sit to determine your size. As this is a wrap skirt
it is very flexible with sizing so no hip measurements are needed.
