B.J. Habibie, in full name Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie, is a
Indonesian aircraft engineer and politician who was president of Indonesia (1998–99) and a leader in the country’s technological and economic development in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Brilliant in science and mathematics from childhood, Habibie received his postsecondary education at the Bandung Institute of Technology in Bandung, Indonesia, and furthered his studies at the Institute of Technology of North Rhine–Westphalia in Aachen, West Germany. Before returning to Indonesia, Habibie had a career in Germany. It is known that the former president had worked at various aviation and aircraft construction companies in Germany after marrying his wife, Hasri Ainun Besari. BJ Habibie had designed the CN-235 aircraft project together with engineers from the Spanish company, CASA, whose prototype was successfully aired in late 1983. With his intelligence and experience, the figure of BJ Habibie finally succeeded in making Indonesia's first aircraft, namely the N250 Gatotkaca, in 1995. Together with his team from the Nusantara Aircraft Industry (IPTN), BJ Habibie designed a propeller plane with a carrying capacity of around 50 passengers and could be enlarged up to 70 passengers named the N-250 Gatot Kaca. With various achievements and great roles for the Indonesian nation, BJ Habibie's life story was adapted into a big screen film. Not only about his inspiration, Indonesian people know BJ Habibie, because of his love story with his wife Ainun. This loyal love story was immortalized in a film called 'Habibie & Ainun' in 2012, which was adapted from a book by BJ Habibie himself. Even until the end of his life, Habibie's love story still inspires many people. BJ Habibie is buried next to his wife Ainun at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery slot 120.
MY REASON TO CHOOSE B.J. HABIBIE :
Pak Habibie is an inspirational figure that I really admire, all the stories and history about him always keep me motivated to keep moving forward and create a bright future. I also want to study abroad like him and create new discoveries that have never existed in Indonesia, because I want to make Indonesia's name known to the whole world. Apart from creating the first aircraft in Indonesia, BJ Habibie was a figure who was very knowledgeable, and dared to seek insight even as far as Germany. from him, I learned to be a spring that continues to flow, and try to provide the best for Indonesia. I am very proud of Pak Habibie, and hopefully in the future I can become the next generation of Rudy Habibie.
