Christian Education Ministry

Mission
The Christian Education Ministry of Lower Bicutan Church of Christ
aims to train up the future leaders of the church. As stated in
Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a Child in the way he should go, and when
he is old, he will not depart from it.” It is also the mission of the
Christian Education Ministry to share the Word of God and obey it as
stated in the Great Commission, “Therefore Go and make disciples
of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I
have commanded you, and surely I am with you, to the end of the
ages.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Vision
The Christian Education Ministry of Lower Bicutan Church of Christ
believe that Christian Education is an extension of the Sunday
Worship and the Christian home, designed to reinforce the faith and
values. We believe that policies and procedures should be consistent
with the standards of the Bible, which is God's inspired Word. We
believe that this is God's world, that each child is unique in God's
sight, created in His image to live a life of faith and service.

Goals and Objectives
The Christian Education Ministry of Lower Bicutan Church of
Christ has developed the following Goals:
 Raise up children in the knowledge of the Bible and love of
God, and became full members of the church.
 Surround children with a faith family the cares for them, knows
them, and continues to share the Word of God with them.
 Provide the basic understanding of the major stories in the bible
and primarily, the story of Jesus.
 Teach the children the importance of the Bible, importance of
prayer, importance of faith, importance of love, importance of
the Church and the importance of the Commandments of the
Lord.
 Help listeners to obey the truths of the Bible and keep it in their
hearts.

In addition, with the goals of the Christian Education Ministry, we


our working towards 3 key objectives:
1. Belonging
We must ensure that the listener feels welcome and experience
the love of God.
2. Believing
We must ensure that they experience intimacy with God and
develop and good relationship with Him.
3. Behaving
We must ensure that they will serve Him and obey Him for their
lives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Superintendent

Superintendents are the administrator of the Christian Education


Ministry. The superintendent responsible to everything that happens in
the ministry. Every member of ministry reports to the superintendent.
The superintendent makes the rules and policies for the Christian
Education Ministry. The superintendent also makes the curriculum that
the Christian Education Ministry use. The Superintendent also answers
to the board of the church. The Superintendent leads in developing an
effective organization that facilitates spiritual transformation. The
Superintendent also leads in efforts to call participants into service and
in enlisting and developing new leaders.

Sunday School Pastor

The Sunday School Pastor guides the who Christian Education


Ministry. The Pastor also counsels the superintendent in making or
choosing the curriculum. The Pastor is also responsible for the welfare
of the whole ministry. He must be able to lead the devotion and attend
to the spiritual needs of the students.

Craft and Activity Master

The Craft and Activity Master is responsible to create arts and


craft for the psychomotor learning of the students. The craft and activity
master must be prepared to have both crafts and learning activities for
each section of the Sunday School. It his responsibility to match the
crafts and learning activities to the curriculum and lesson for the day.
He must be artistic and create a fresh and new craft weekly.

Sunday School Teachers

The teacher’s role is to teach a small group of children during


Bible-study time. They must also reach out to the children who are not
participating to Sunday School. One must be able to minister to
assigned children and their families. The teacher must also have the
complete information sheet on each student who attend the Sunday
School. The teacher must be prepared for the lesson. The teacher must
able to live what they teach.

Sunday School Worship Leaders

The Worship Leaders are responsible for the praise and worship
of the Sunday School. They are also responsible in offerings and
pledges of the Sunday School. They must provide songs that are
connected to the curriculum or lesson of the day.

Policies and Guidelines

The Committee shall have the following duties:


 The shaping of the educational policies of the church and church
school.
 The choosing and approval of all study materials used in the
educational process of the church.
 The shaping and approval of all educational organizations and the
assignment of leaders.
 The selection and appointment of educational and church
principals and teachers as well as officials
 The careful planning for and attendance at such summer
conferences as they shall approve and establishment and
carrying out of such policies regarding the same, as they deem
wise
 Making available teachers’ training courses and helpful literature.
 General counseling and guidance for the Director and the Pastors
in their educational task.
 Annual survey and approval of all benevolence budgets of various
educational groups. These benevolent enterprises shall be
referred to the Session for approval annually.
 The setting up and approval of the church calendar of the
educational activities: conventions, classes, i.e.
 Committee shall meet regularly at the call of the Superintendent.
 The allocation of specific duties to members of the church staff as
the program warrants, after careful consultation with other
department heads.
 No delegation, individual or group shall go out in the name of, or
represent this church, without approval of the Committee.

Recruitment Procedures
Statement:
Recognizing the essential need of Christian education and my privilege
and duty to render personal service to my Lord through the organized
efforts of the Sunday school, I promise my Lord that I will be faithful in
the discharge of my duties and responsibilities and agree to the
following covenant:

1. I have received Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord, and am now


living in daily communication with Him.
2. I purpose to be present every Sunday.
3. Knowing the value of a good example, I will make it a practice to
come on time to each session, and interpret this to mean I am to
be present at least ten minutes before the opening of the school
each Sunday.
4. As a worker in the Sunday School, I shall feel my responsibility
toward the church and agree to attend all its services as regularly
as possible
5. I will take time to prepare thoroughly for the teaching of each
lesson if my responsibilities involve teaching.
6. I will attend regularly the meetings appointed for workers of the
Sunday School.
7. I will earnestly strive and pray for the salvation of those members
of my department who are not Christians and will seek to lead
them to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
8. I shall endeavor to keep complete and accurate records.
9. I shall endeavor by every possible means, such as visitation,
telephone and writing, to keep in touch with my pupils.
I purpose to pray regularly for my class, department and the
whole work of the Sunday School.

Procurement of Materials
Comprehensiveness
1. The Curriculum should give adequate attention to every
aspect of Christian teaching which should be considered by
each age group.
2. The curriculum should cover the areas of experiences basic
and common to each age group.
3. The curriculum will give attention to the objectives of
Christian education for each age group.
4. the curriculum will include all the areas of Bible knowledge
which have particular significance and teaching value of
each age group.
Balance
1. The number of sessions assigned to each element and
emphasis will reflect the importance of each judged in the
light of other elements.
2. The time assigned to any given emphasis will be consistent
with the material.
Sequence
1. Some progression must be assumed on the part of the
learner and teacher, so it is not necessary to repeat
everything at every stage.
2. Timing of emphasis will utilize seasonal interests to the best
advantage.
3. The placement of units and courses will observe the need of
variety and freshness of approach.

1. The Sessions of each department are required to have all


the activities stated on the table above.
2. It is the teacher’s responsibility to control the behavior of
his students, thus, children must refrain from running all
over the church.
3. Injuries that may happen are the responsibility of the
teacher. The church office has medical materials in case
needed.
4. It is the teacher’s responsibility to adjust for his students
that can’t catch up with the lessons.

Meetings
Meetings are held every last Sunday of every month and
the following items are discussed:
1. Classroom Management of each department.
2. Future Projects and activities of Christian Education
ministry.
3. Budgeting for the next month including the budget for the
nest activity.
4. Improvements of Christian Education Ministry.
5. Review of the Curriculum.
6. Problems regarding the Christian Education Ministry.
7. Suggestions and Comments.

The following rules are applied in every meeting:


1. All Members of the Committee are required to attend the
meeting on or earlier than the time stated.
2. All members of the committee should treat each other with
respect even though if their opinion on such subject negates.
3. All Members of the committee should respect the decision
that has been approved by the board.
