Daily Task #4

Difference between a child and adult learner.

- A child is a young human being, probably under the age of 18. An adult, on the other hand, is a
fully-grown human being. In the society, the adults have much more responsibility towards the
others and themselves as well. This is mainly because of their independent status.

Define the following words.

a) Childhood
- The definition of childhood refers to the years of your youth, typically it refers to the time
before you turn 13 and become a teenager, although it can also refer to the time until you are
18 and considered legally an adult.

b) Adolescent
- (of a young person) in the process of developing from a child into an adult.
- Adolescence is a transitional stage of physical and psychological development that generally
occurs during the period from puberty to adulthood.

c) Children
- A child is a human being between the stages of birth and puberty, or between the
developmental period of infancy and puberty.
- The legal definition of child generally refers to a minor, otherwise known as a person younger
than the age of majority.
- Children generally have fewer rights and responsibilities than adults.

d) Infancy
- The first year after birth is called infancy. Infancy is a period when the baby grows very fast.
- During infancy, the baby doubles in length and triples in weight. Other important changes also
happen during infancy: The baby's teeth start to come in, usually at about six months of age

e) Adulthood
- The period in the human lifespan in which full physical and intellectual maturity have been
attained. Adulthood is commonly thought of as beginning at age 20 or 21 years
