Teachers: The Real Champions

By Khushi Arora

A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge, and wisdom
in the students. It is the supreme art of a teacher that awakens joy in creative
expression and knowledge. But does it suffice, who is a teacher? Is it a person who can
make you learn lessons or conquer fractions? Is it a person Who can grade you by
academics? Is it a person Who can resolve your questions?
Or is it someone who just follows a particular schedule?
My answer would be.. yes, maybe..! But, that’s only on the secondary level. Firstly, each
one of them is an awakener, a transformer, and a creator of an evolved child. They
provide a frame of mind and strength that nurtures the pupils emotionally, socially, and
academically.
Every child needs a champion; someone who believes in them, who will never give up
on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the
best that they can be - And someone who encourages them to love learning while
igniting their curiosity. This champion is present in all of the teachers out there, in this
beautiful world. Teachers genuinely care for all their students without questions or
judgement. As educators they are given the hardest job; they are the role models who
work hard only for the betterment of the world’s future. And they don’t merely become
educators, they become our second parents who mould our personality and provide us
a bright future.
Teachers of all walks of life and subjects can shape opinions and help form ideas about
society, life, and personal goals. They can expand students’ limits and push their
creativity. And that’s where we find a champion in the teacher.
Everyone knows that today’s youth will become the leaders of tomorrow, and teachers
have the responsibility to educate the youth in their most impressionable years —
whether that is teaching academics, for the extra-curriculars, sports, or traditional
classes; a champion can be found anywhere. Knowledge and education are the basis
for all things that can be accomplished in life. Teachers provide the power of education
to today’s youth, thereby giving them the possibility for a better future.
The most remarkable thing is that,Teachers don’t accept failure, and therefore, students
are likely to only succeed. They know when to push students, when to give a gentle
nudge in the right direction, and when to let students figure it out on their own. But they
won’t let a student give up.
Now, tell me, isn't this mesmerizing to see a teacher do all this, and make a difference in
our lives today? Wherever we stand today, whatever we contribute to this world, is
possible only because of an external thrust of remarkable efforts provided by our
teachers. Today, amidst this COVID-19 pandemic that we all are surrounded by,
Teachers are the next level of COVID warriors, fighting for the nation and shaping the
future of tomorrow. When this pandemic began, teachers were given a short notice to
shift very quickly to distance learning or e-learning, sometimes with little or no training.
In many cases, they had 48 hours or a weekend to reinvent lessons for an already
planned curriculum, learn new technologies, find non-technology solutions to student
learning, and figure out how to keep students engaged.
But teachers are struggling; like the rest of us, they have to balance home, work and
manage all of their duties, while simultaneously caring for students, grieving losses, and
facing major disparities as they do their jobs. This is a time that’s taxing and stressful for
everyone in this world, but despite that our teachers are surpassing through it, figuring
out new and innovative ways for their students to keep learning.
Dear teachers, you, really are on the front lines. It’s your commendable ability to
connect with us, to keep us learning, and allow us to participate in the world of
tomorrow and aid us to have a better future ahead.
Teachers, you have been doing incredible work, becoming masters in multitasking
teaching and parenting. And we students are really grateful for this champion in all our
teachers. Let's admit this..never clapped for them from our balconies, and didn’t light a
candle for their services.. but unlocking passion during this lockdown, our teachers have
done their best and inspired hard work remotely, and instilled hope that anything is
possible. They are the unsung warriors of these crises. Sometimes it may seem like we
have forgotten how important the teachers are, their creativity, dedication, and
perseverance. It’s time for a reminder, For every child that says, “I don’t get it”, “I can’t”.
There is a teacher, who says, “You can”. For every child who needs basic skills,
knowledge, someone to believe in them, there is a teacher who will do whatever it takes
to encourage, motivate, challenge, engage, inspire and instill the love for learning.
Even when it seems like nobody’s watching or that people have forgotten just how
special you teachers are by being the real champions, we students appreciate you and
salute you wholeheartedly.
