MIZO TRIBE
The Mizo people are an ethnic group native to
the Indian state of Mizoram and neighbouring
regions of Northeast India. The term covers
several related ethnic groups or clans inside the
Mizo group.
CLIMATE Mizoram has a pleasant climate. It is generally
cool in summer and not very cold in winter.
During winter, the temperature varies from 11 C
to 21 C and in the summer it varies between 20
C to 29 C. The entire area is under the direct
influence of the monsoon.
CLIMATIC FACTORS
Sloping roofs for heavy rainfall.
Due to pleasant weather most activities take place outdoors.
Zawbulk built on stilts due to the high chances of flood.
Construction is done with bamboo due to it's plenty if
availability and strong resistance against floods .
SETTLEMENT PATTERN
HIill tribes usually built houses on the top of the hiill with the house of the tribal
chief at the centre
The bachelor's quarter known as Zawbulk is located close to the chief's house
and acted as a center of activity since the youth since the youth worked,
trained and lived at these centers

Construction Techniques
They use wood and bamboo to build their houses on
the sloping land. The walls of the house are prepared by
mud, bamboo, and cow-dung as materials for
construction, the partitions are made of bamboo
screens the flooring and roofing are also done from
bamboo.
Construction Techniques
The rood may be made of thick bamboo covered
with thick, thatch, leaves or straws. Houses are small
in size with interiors partitioned by bamboo walls
