Read the following proverbs correctly, then discuss the message of each one. Observe the use
of the simple present tense.
1. Misery loves company. - It’s described that if someone is in trouble, they want others to be
trouble too in that way they can feel good about themselves.
2. Figures do not lie. - It’s described that accurate statistics are factual and that liars are always
calculating their next move to manipulate a part of life using deceit.
3. Beggars are not choosers. - The term used describe when a person need help, it should be
satisfied and should not be questioned on what they are given if it is not the exactly thing they
wanted.
4. A good start is a battle half-won. - It’s described when we have a strong foundation of
anything that we decide, it definitely would make things easier.
5. Virtue is its own reward. - When we do something with morally and willingness, it is more
important and satisfying than receiving some expensive gifts.
