1 500 2,160
2 1,000 2,161
3 1,500 2,160

2.Capacitance Measurement:

1 1,000 280
2 2,000 145
3 3,000 93

3.Inductance Measurement

Trial f (Hz) R (Ω)

1 10,000 59
2 20,000 118
3 30,000 115

4.Determination of Resonant Frequency:

Trial Series RLC Parallel RLC

1 6,668 (Hz) 6,678 (Hz)
2 6,684 (Hz) 6,680 (Hz)
3 6,692 (Hz) 6,697 (Hz)

II. Data Analysis:

1.Resistance Measurement:
We have R X =R0
3

∑ Ri
R x = i=1 =2,160.3(Ω)
3

3

∑ ( R xi−R x )2
i=1
Δ Rx ≈ S . D ≈ =0.27(Ω)
3

Hence:
R x =2,160.3 ±0. 3(Ω)
2.Capacitence Measurement:
1 1
Z x= =R 0 hence CX=
2 πf C x 2 πf R0
−7 −7
C 1=5.68 ×10 ( F ) ; C 2=5.49 ×10 ( F ) ; C 3=5.70 ×10−7 ( F )
3

∑ C xi
i=1 −7
CX= =5.62 x 10 (F)
3

√∑
3
ΔC X≈ S.D ≈ ¿¿¿¿¿
i=1

Hence:
−7
C X = (5.62 ± 0.05 ) × 10 ( F )

3.Inductance Measurement:
R0
Z L =2 πf . L x =R0 hence L x=
2 πf

We have:
L1=9.39 ×10−4 (H )
−4
L2=9.39 ×10 (H )
−4
L3=9.81 ×10 (H )
3

∑ L xi
i=1 −4
L x= =9.53 ×10 ( H )
3

3

∑ (L xi−L x )2
i=1 −4
Δ L x ≈ S . D≈ =0.11× 10 (H)
3

Hence:
−4
L X =( 9.53± 0.11)× 10 (H )
4.Determination of Resonant Frequency:
a. Series RLC Circuit:
3

∑ f xi
i=1
f x= =6,681.3( Hz)
3

3

∑ ( f Xi−f X ) 2
i =1
Δ f x≈ S .D ≈ =5.7 ( Hz)
3

Hence:
f X− Series=6,681.3± 5.7( Hz)

b.Parallel RLC Circuit:

3

∑ f xi
f X= i=1 =6,685(Hz)
3

√∑
3
2
( f Xi−f X )
i=1
Δ f X ≈ S . D≈ =4.92(Hz)
3

Hence:
f X−¿ =6,685.00 ± 4.92( Hz)

c.Theoretical Result and Conclusion

1
f=
2 π √ LC
1
f X= =6,877.1( Hz)
2 π √ 5.62 ×10 × 9.53× 10
−7 −4

√( )( )( )
2 2 2
0.01 −1 0.11 −1 0.05
Δ f X ≈ S . D≈ 6,877.1 × + . + . =54.69(Hz)
3.14 2 9.53 2 5.62
Hence:
f X−Theoretical =6,877.10± 54.69 ( Hz )

We can see that:

The theoretical result of resonant frequency is approximately equal to the
directly measured results. We can see that the RLC circuit (with properly
small resistance) becomes a good approximation to an ideal LC circuit.
