Zomato a leading food transportation service in India had to face 2 hurdles when it first started its
delivery service. Firstly they had to face the problem of transportation as india is a densely populated
country with very less private vehicles for people to go around and have local food. To counter this
zomato exclaimed to use local riders to deliver their food to desired customers. Another great hurdle
faced by zomato was a cultural difference. People tend to feel taboo trying to eat through the kitchen of
people other than their status quo. For example brahamins will never eat from the kitchen of an
achooth citizen. For this zomato used feeback option to make people belive that they can eat through
any kitchen as their own fellow citizens are doing.

Through in direct network effect, zomato being a two-way platform uses the feedback or review from
the customers to hype the specific restaurant. The customers gained a larger market to serve from.
Every new customer adds value to already existing knowledge in the app. This helps zomato recommend

find their targets. When the number of delivery agents increase with increase in number of restaurant, it
eventually leads to a bigger attractable market. This is called fly wheel effect, as every customer adds

different analysis of customers’ orders and searches, zomato uses this info to put forward different
