1. Basics Fundamental Skills in Basketball

 Dribbling/Dribble-is a movement of the ball, caused by a player in control, who


throws or taps the floor.
 Shooting- throwing the basketball toward the hoop. It is the most important
among the skills in the basketball game.
 Defense-refers to the defensive strategies, alignments, and processioning that a
team uses to prevent the opposing offense from scoring basket. In basketball,
good defense requires quickness, footwork, and a deep understanding of the
fundamentals.
 Rebounding/Rebound-A rebound can be grabbed by either offensive player or
defensive player. Rebounds are divided into main categories: Offensive
Rebounds, in which the ball is recovered by the offensive side and does not
change possession, and Defensive Rebounds, in which the defending team gains
possession.
 Passing- defined as “The deliberate attempt to move a live ball between two
teammates” a definition which might equally apply across other sports equally
well, albeit with a change to the item being passed where appropriate.
