1.

SIGNIFICANCE/IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY

- The significance of this study lies in its focus on understanding the
knowledge, attitudes, and practices of parents towards dengue prevention.
This information can be used to develop and enhance current dengue
prevention programs by identifying areas where parents may lack knowledge
or understanding, and addressing any misconceptions or negative attitudes
that may impede prevention efforts. By gaining a better understanding of
the factors that influence parents' decisions and actions related to dengue
prevention, this study has the potential to inform public health interventions
that are more effective in preventing the spread of dengue and protecting
communities from the disease.

2. HOW DID YOU COLLECT AND ANALYZE DATA FOR THIS

STUDY?
- For this study, a cross-sectional study design will be used to collect and
analyze data on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of parents towards
dengue prevention. A sample of parents from a specific geographic area will
be selected, and data will be collected through the use of a Likert scale
survey questionnaire. The survey will include questions on participants'
knowledge of dengue and its transmission, as well as their attitudes and
practices related to dengue prevention. The Likert scale survey questionnaire
will be utilized to measure the extent to which participants agreed or
disagreed with a set of statements related to dengue prevention. Data will
be collected from participants through in-person survey administration.
- The survey data will be then analyzed using descriptive statistics to identify
patterns and trends in the data. The responses will be then tabulated and
presented in form of frequency tables, bar graphs, and pie charts for easy
interpretation of the findings.

3. HOW WILL YOU GET SAMPLE AND SAMPLING SIZE?

- The study will use Slovin's formula and purposive sampling to determine
the sample size and to select the participants.
- Slovin's formula is a statistical method used to calculate the sample size
required for a given population. The formula is n = N / (1 + Ne^2) where n
is the sample size, N is the population size, and e is the margin of error.
- Purposive sampling is a non-probability sampling technique in which the
researcher selects participants based on specific characteristics or criteria. In
this case, the researcher will select participants based on their being parents
of children who are at risk of contracting dengue fever.

- So, the study will use the Slovin's formula to calculate the sample size, and
then use purposive sampling to select the participants from the population of
parents of children who are at risk of contracting dengue fever.

4. HOW DO THIS RESEARCH TOPIC DIFFER FROM OTHER

LITERATURE REVIEW?
- This research may focus specifically on the knowledge, attitudes, and
practices of parents towards dengue prevention, while other literature
reviews may have a broader focus or may have studied a different
population group, such as healthcare workers or the general public.
-This research topic may have a specific research question or objective that
differentiates it from other literature reviews, such as identifying knowledge
gaps or assessing the effectiveness of a specific dengue prevention program,
or in terms of the questions included in our survey questionnaire
- The research may be conducted in a specific geographical area or a specific
context, such as urban or rural area, or a specific socioeconomic group,
which can differ from other literature reviews which may have broader
scope.

5. HOW CAN THE RESULTS OF THIS STUDY BE USED TO

ENHANCE CURRENT DENGUE PREVENTION PROGRAMS?
- The study results can help identify areas where parents lack knowledge or
understanding about dengue prevention, such as how to prevent mosquito
breeding or how to recognize dengue symptoms. This information can be
used to develop targeted education programs to address these gaps.
- The study results can provide insight into how effective current dengue
prevention programs are in changing knowledge, attitudes, and practices
among parents. This information can be used to identify areas where
programs are successful and where they may need to be improved.
- The study results can help identify specific factors that influence parents'
knowledge, attitudes, and practices, such as level of education or access to
information. This information can be used to develop targeted interventions
that take into account these factors, such as developing culturally
appropriate education materials or providing education in multiple
languages.
- The study results can be used to identify the level of community
engagement and the role of the community in dengue prevention. This
information can be used to develop strategies to increase community
participation and ownership of dengue prevention programs.

6. WHAT ARE THE LIMITATIONS OF THIS STUDY AND HOW

CAN THEY BE ADDRESSED IN FUTURE RESEARCH?
- Self-reported data: The study may rely on self-reported data from parents
on their knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards dengue prevention.
This type of data may be subject to bias, such as social desirability bias,
where participants may not report their true beliefs or behaviors.
- The results of the study may not be generalizable to other populations or
contexts, such as parents from different cultural backgrounds or in different
geographical areas
- The study may not take into account other factors that can influence the
knowledge, attitudes and practices of parents, such as socioeconomic status,
access to health care, or other disease-related issues.

7. WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS OF YOUR STUDY FOR

POLICY-MAKING AND PUBLIC HEALTH INTERVENTIONS?
1. Identification of knowledge gaps: The study may identify gaps in the
knowledge of parents about dengue prevention, which can inform the
development of targeted education and awareness campaigns to address
these gaps.
2. Development of targeted interventions: The study may identify specific
factors that influence parents' knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards
dengue prevention, such as level of education or access to information. This
information can be used to develop targeted interventions that take these
factors into account.
3. Improve the community engagement: The study may provide insights into
the level of community engagement and the role of the community in
dengue prevention, which can inform strategies to increase community
participation and ownership of dengue prevention programs.
4. Assessing the effectiveness of current programs: The study may provide
insights into the effectiveness of current dengue prevention programs, which
can be used to identify areas for improvement or to develop new strategies
for prevention and control.
5. Advocating for resources: The study may help to demonstrate the need
for resources to support dengue prevention programs, such as funding for
education and awareness campaigns or vector control measures.
6. Developing guidelines: The study may provide insights into the
knowledge, attitudes, and practices of parents that can inform the
development of guidelines for dengue prevention programs targeting
parents.

8. CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE RATIONALE FOR THE

METHODOLOGY USED IN THE STUDY, AND HOW IT WAS
DETERMINED THAT THIS METHODOLOGY WAS
APPROPRIATE FOR ADDRESSING THE RESEARCH
QUESTIONS?
- The rationale for using a cross-sectional study design and a survey
questionnaire in this study is that it allows for the collection of data on a
large number of participants in a relatively short period of time. This is
particularly useful when studying a topic such as dengue prevention, where
a wide range of participants with different characteristics, such as age,
education, and socioeconomic status, is needed to be studied.
- The survey questionnaire was chosen as the main data collection tool
because it provides a systematic and standardized way to gather information
from participants. It is also a cost-effective and efficient way to gather data
from a large sample of participants. The Likert scale survey questionnaire
was used to measure the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of parents
towards dengue prevention, as it allows for the quantification of participants'
responses, and it is simple to understand and administer.
9. HOW DID THE STUDY ENSURE THE SAMPLE WAS
REPRESENTATIVE OF THE POPULATION OF PARENTS, AND
WHAT MEASURES WERE TAKEN TO MINIMIZE BIAS IN THE
SAMPLING PROCESS?
- To ensure that the sample is representative of the population of parents,
the study may use a variety of measures to minimize bias in the sampling
process.
- One measure that could be taken is to ensure that the sample is diverse in
terms of socio-economic status, age, education level, and geographic
location. This can be achieved by selecting participants from a variety of
different neighborhoods or regions, and by recruiting a mix of participants
from different socio-economic backgrounds.
- Another measure that could be taken to minimize bias in the sampling
process is to use a large sample size. A larger sample size increases the
chances of capturing a representative sample of the population.
