Interpreting is the third phase in art critique.

To interpret a piece of
art is to offer a logical explanation for it. Choosing an interpretation
does not include making an assumption about what the artwork
means or expressing a viewpoint. A work of art's meaning could, for
instance, be a message sent, an emotion expressed, a specific
portrayal of a person, place, or thing, or a critique of a social or
political situation. A well-supported opinion based on data, the visual
characteristics of the piece of art, and the tendencies of the art
movement or style is called an interpretation in art criticism.
