The Officer of the Watch is responsible for:

• Compliance with ColReg

2. Introduction
The officer of the watch shall comply strictly with the International Regulations for
Preventing Collisions at Sea.

Whenever it is his/her duty under these regulations to give way to another vessel
this shall be done in ample time and in such a way that the action taken cannot be
misunderstood.

3. Traffic Separation Schemes - Special Circumstances


Contact the relevant VTIS-centre and advise of the intended manoeuvre/situation if
it becomes necessary to:

• Cross a separation lane or enter a separation zone


• Cross a safety zone
• Enter other areas with restrictions, under conditions not complying with
prevailing rules/ recommendations. E.g. angle of crossing or vessel not being
under command
