Anthropometric and Ergonomic - ARCH 132
Anthropometric and Ergonomic - ARCH 132
In scientific study, the term "anthropometric" refers to the evaluation of human body
dimensions and measures, primarily on a comparative basis.
In architecture, it refers to the measurement of the human body and human motion
that is sufficiently matched to the design of the building.
Anthropometric measurement is an asset in optimizing the structure's design. Instead
of requiring individuals to adapt to structures, it enables designers like architects to
customize buildings to fit specific individuals.
Anthropometric is based on the idea that building design must be proportionate to the
dimensions of the human body and human motion.
Anthropometric falls into two main strands that are:
Static Measurement
the measurement of body sizes at rest
Functional Measurement
