1 Abstract

This report presents the development process of a comprehensive resource website for information about
Nepali music. Through user research, low-fidelity prototyping [1], and usability testing [3], we were able
to create a user-friendly and informative website that meets the needs of our target audience, including fans,
musicians, and music students. The site includes information about artists, albums, and songs, as well as
news and articles about the Nepali music industry. It also offers educational resources such as lyrics, chords,
and lesson plans. By providing a valuable resource for the Nepali music community, we hope to foster a
sense of community and support for this vibrant and diverse music scene.

3 Introduction

Nepali music is a rich and diverse art form with a long history and a vibrant contemporary scene. However,
for fans and musicians alike, it can be challenging to find comprehensive and reliable information about
Nepali music. In response to this need, we set out to develop a resource website that would provide a one-
stop-shop for information about Nepali music, including details about artists, albums, and songs, as well as
news and articles about the Nepali music industry.
The goal is to create a user-friendly and informative website that would be a valuable resource for fans,
musicians, and music students. To ensure that our site met the needs and preferences of our target audience,
we conducted user research and created low-fidelity prototypes, which we tested through usability testing.
In this report, we will describe the development process of our project, including the user research and
prototyping that went into its creation, as well as the results of our usability testing. We will also discuss the
features and functionality of the final website, and outline our plans for future development. By providing
a comprehensive resource for information about Nepali music, we hope to foster a sense of community and
support for this vibrant and diverse music scene.

4 Methodology

The development of our project followed a user-centered design [2] process that included user research, low-
fidelity prototyping, and usability testing. This process helped us to understand the needs and preferences
of our target audience, and ensure that our website was user-friendly and informative.
To understand the needs and preferences of our target audience, we conducted user research through a
series of analysis and used the insights we gathered to inform the development of our project.
Based on our user research, we created low-fidelity prototypes using Figma to test out different design
concepts and layouts. These prototypes were primarily used to test the overall structure and navigation of
our site, and we solicited feedback from users through usability testing. We iteratively revised and improved
our prototypes based on the feedback we received.
We conducted usability testing on our low-fidelity prototypes to gather feedback about the user expe-
rience. We recruited participants who represented our target audience and asked them to complete tasks
using the prototypes, while we observed and recorded their interactions. We also asked them to provide
verbal feedback about their experience using the prototypes. We used the feedback from these tests to make
iterative improvements to our prototypes.

5 User Research

User research is a crucial step in the development process for any website or app, as it helps to ensure that the
product meets the needs and preferences of the target audience. For our project, we conducted an analysis
of the current state of the Nepali music industry to identify gaps and opportunities for our website to fill.

5.1 Analysis

To conduct our analysis, we researched the current offerings of Nepali music websites and apps, and iden-
tified areas where there was a lack of comprehensive and reliable information. We also gathered insights
from industry experts and stakeholders about the needs and preferences of Nepali music fans, musicians,
and music students.

5.2 Results

Based on our analysis, we determined that there was a need for a comprehensive resource website that could
provide information about Nepali music, including details about artists, albums, and songs, as well as news
and articles about the Nepali music industry. We also identified a need for educational resources, such as
lyrics, and chords, that could be useful for musicians and music students.
Overall, our user research helped us to understand the needs and preferences of our target audience, and
played a crucial role in the development of our project.

6 Usability Test

Usability testing is an important step in the development process for any website or app, as it helps to identify
any problems or challenges that users may encounter when using the product. For our project, we conducted
usability testing on our low-fidelity prototypes to gather feedback about the user experience.

6.1 Methodology

Our friend, who represents our target audience of Nepali music fans, musicians, and music students, con-
ducted the usability testing on our low-fidelity prototypes. They completed a series of tasks using the pro-
totypes, and provided verbal feedback about their experience using the prototypes.

6.2 Results

Overall, our usability testing revealed a number of areas where our prototypes could be improved. For
example, our friend had difficulty finding certain types of information, or found the navigation confusing.
Based on this feedback, we made iterative improvements to our prototypes, including revising the layout
and adding additional navigation elements.

6.3 Conclusion

Overall, our usability testing helped us to identify and address any potential challenges that users may en-
counter when using our project. By incorporating the feedback from our testing, we were able to create a
more user-friendly and intuitive website. Going forward, we plan to continue testing and gathering feedback
to ensure that our project meets the needs and preferences of our target audience.

7 Conclusion and Future works

In conclusion, our project is a comprehensive and user-friendly resource for fans, musicians, and music stu-
dents. Through user research and usability testing, we were able to identify the key features and functionality
that our target audience was looking for, and incorporate them into our final website.

7.1 Conclusion

The website will include information about artists, albums, and songs, as well as news and articles about
the Nepali music industry. It also will offer educational resources such as lyrics, chords, and lesson plans.
We believe that our website will be a valuable resource for those interested in Nepali music, providing them
with the latest news and releases from their favorite artists, as well as information about new and upcoming
artists.

7.2 Future works

Going forward, we plan to continue updating and maintaining our website to ensure that the information
is accurate and current. We also plan to add additional features and functionality, such as user-generated
content and interactive forums, to further engage our audience and foster a sense of community. We believe
that our project has the potential to be a valuable resource for the Nepali music industry, and we are excited
to see how it will evolve and grow in the future.
