NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF SECOND

QUARTERLY EXAMINATION

INTRODUCTION:

While we often think of exams as a way to test students’ comprehension of material, exams can serve
more than one purpose. Being aware of why we are testing students and what exactly we want to test can help
make students’ and instructors' experience of exams more useful. Last January 26-27, we conducted the 2 nd
Quarterly examination to all the students in RISS.

FINDINGS:

GRADE 8

AQUINO: Everybody was present during their examination in English 8. The 35 Aquino students were all
present.

CELERIO: There was one male student who was absent during the exam. There were 36 out of 37 students who
have taken the test in English 8.

LEGASPI: There was one male student who was excused from the exam since the father of the student
personally gave his excuse letter to the adviser. There were 32 out of 33 have taken the test.

GRADE 9

AMORSOLO: There were two male students who were absent from the exam. A total of 43 out of 45 have taken
the test in Filipino 9.

ARCELLANA: There was one male student who was absent from the exam. A total of 33 out of 34 students have
taken the test in Filipino 9.

MANANSALA: There were two male students who were absent from the test. A total of 41 out of 43 students
have taken the examination in Filipino 9.

FACILITATING FACTORS:

The successful conduct of the Second Quarterly Examinations of the students was made possible
considering some factors to mention on the teachers and students’ side. All the teachers were able to make an
original test questionnaire with the prescribed TOS and of course before the it was reproduced it was
thoroughly checked by our school head, Dr. Paceno. The teachers arrived at least 5 minutes before the official
start of the test and finished on time as well. While the test was on going, the teachers carefully managed the
class to make sure that nobody is cheating and sharing answers. On the student’s side, 95 percent were present
in all the sections. Everybody was wearing their ID’s and white uniform too. Its really nice seeing them that way
always.
HINDERING FACTORS:

We always think that everything seems to be perfect but there are inevitable instances that will hinder.
During the examination I saw students who were not ready to take the test because they arrived late. Other
students attempted to copy answers from the classmates, which is not new for me anymore. Another student
also had experienced stomachache because according to the student, did not have his breakfast. I immediately
gave the student a biscuit to suffice his hunger. Those were the few hindering factors during the exam that I
have noticed.

INTERVENTION:

I always believe in the saying that nobody or nothing is perfect so is conducting examinations. Giving
reminders and more preparation could help lessen the hindering factors in the future thus the teacher should
be more strict and attentive in conducting the test and imposed new policies for the students to follow.
