Intro:

One of the most common questions of every human being is where do I come from? Or how do
humans make more humans? Now, our origin stems at Human reproduction where our
reproductive systems will take a big role in creating an offspring who in turn will continue the
cycle so as we can ensure the survival of our kind. However, human reproduction is not always a
piece of cake, there are cases where it is almost impossible or completely impossible to do so.

In this case, having gonorrhea can possibly disable a male or female from producing an
offspring. But, before we find out how, let us be familiar with gonorrhea first.
Gonorrhea is the second most common sexually transmitted infection caused by the
bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Globally, about 78 million people acquire gonorrhea every
year. Now you may be curious if who is at risk for gonorrhea. Well, any sexually active person,
male or female, can get gonorrhea. Typically, this is more common among teens and young
adults ages 15-24 years. Now, how can one acquire gonorrhea? Gonorrhea can be passed from an
infected person to another person through oral, anal, or vaginal sex without condom or other
barrier method. If left untreated, gonorrhea can cause serious problems for both men and women.
In men, the infection can spread to the testicles and the prostate gland which may have long term
impact on fertility. For women, the infection can progress to pelvic inflammatory disease leading
which can also affect the fertility thus a woman may encounter difficulty of getting pregnant in
the future. Not only will the reproductive system be infected but will spread to other parts of the
body as well if gonorrhea remains untreated.
Fortunately, these complications can be prevented if infections are identified and treated early.
At least 50% of woman and 10% of men are asymptomatic to gonorrhea. However, if there are
symptoms, these may include painful and burning sensation during urinating for both male and
female, pus discharge from the penis, discharge from the vagina, and persistent sore throat to
mention a few.
So, how can gonorrhea be treated or prevecan be cured with the right and proper treatment by
antibiotic shot and oral antibiotic given by your doctor. However, it is best to prevent getting
gonorrhea through avoiding in engaging sexual intercourse with your partner. If you do, make
sure to hold tests for STIs with every sexual encounter, consult your doctor if both of you are
sexually healthy, and wear condom.
Growing up, we become more curious on different matters. There are things that we wish to
experience. However, let us not let our interests and curiosity drive our emotions and decisions.
They may seem tempting however rash decisions will result to further mishaps. Thus, use this
opportunity to be educated and take that knowledge into consideration when deciding as
decisions may affect who we are and who we become.
