1)
a. Hydrated CaC2O4.H2O decompose as follows in the atmospheric pressure and the
temperatures mentioned below
𝐶𝑎𝐶2 𝑂4 . 𝐻2 𝑂 → 𝐶𝑎𝐶2 𝑂4 (𝑠) + 𝐻2 𝑂 (𝑔) 2400 𝐶
𝐶𝑎𝐶2 𝑂4 (𝑠) ⇌ 𝐶𝑎𝐶𝑂3(𝑠) + 𝐶𝑂(𝑔) 5000 𝐶
𝐶𝑎𝐶𝑂3(𝑠) ⇌ 𝐶𝑎𝑂(𝑠) + 𝐶𝑂2(𝑔) 8000 𝐶

Following procedures are carried out to identify KP1, KP2. In a rigid metal container
CaC2O4(s) is taken and allowed to attain equilibrium at high temperature

Valve Barometer

Above a container of volume 0.8314dm3 is evacuated. 25.6g of anhydrous CaC2O4 is

taken and the container is kept as air tight. At 1200K temperature the pressure of the
container is allowed to be at a steady value of 1.8x106 Pa. then the valve is opened and
the gas inside is sent out. The container is allowed to cool to the room temperature
rapidly and the substance present inside is dissolved in dil.H 2SO4. The solution obtained
is transferred a volumetric flask of volume 0.5dm3 and distilled water is added until the
mark. Then the solution is separated into 8 titration flask each of volume 25cm3 and
titrated by 0.1moldm-3 KMnO4. Reading of the pipette at the end of the titration is 20cm3

condition was found to be 4.2x106 Pa. the valve A is opened and the gases inside is
allowed to flow outside. Then the system is brought to room temperature rapidly and all
the contents are dissolved in dil.H2SO4. The solution was made as 500cm3 and then a
25cm3 sample is titrated by using 0.1moldm-3 KMnO4. The volume of KMnO4 needed
