Descriptive writing

When we are telling stories it is good if the other person can imagine it. The best way to do this is to be
descriptive. This means describing how things look, smell, sound, feel, etc. with lots of detail

For example:
Who is Jessie?
1. She is a girl.
2. She is a 13 year- old girl. She has long blond hair and bright blue eyes. She goes to
middle school and lives in Korea. She has a very beautiful smile.

How was your day at the park?

1. Good.
2. It was great! I had a picnic with my friends. We ate pizza and sandwiches and
drank juice on the grass. After we played a game of football and my team won.
There were 8 people altogether and the weather was very hot and sunny.

Descriptive writing is very good when we are talking about our memories

 I was amazed by the beauty of the city, the culture, the food, the crowds of people,
and the snow since I went in winter

the food was very good, the variety of dishes for all tastes was incredible, people
had a lot of freedom when wanting to wear any type of clothing, the large buildings all
illuminated with Christmas lights gave some places a magical air.

Now write about your favorite memory in a complete paragraph.

It was on my vacation, my sister and I decided to take a little trip out of the
country, in my case it was the first time I traveled to the United States, I was very
excited to get to know a new culture and a new country, although I was also a
little scared It was going to be the first time I got on a plane. During the whole
journey to the airport my sister encouraged me and told me that everything would
be fine during the flight, and so it was, the flight was even in my experience
something fun and exciting. When we arrived and left the airport, I opened my
eyes to the beauty that the city reflected with all its lights and snow. My stay
there lasted a month and during all that time I dedicated myself to visiting
different cities and states such as Boston, Manhattan, New Jersey, New York, and
Newark, where I enjoyed the music, the food, the different shops and the
incredible recreation places such as Downtown in Manhattan where I could
appreciate the huge and beautiful Christmas tree, the different light shows and
above all, the fireworks in New Year. It was one of the most exciting trips I have
had and to this day, every time I visit the country, I see it as the first time I went.
