My NGO team will be focusing on stopping world hunger as our United Nations Sustainable Develop-

mental goal. Intercultural skills will be important so the group can understand the situation. “The con-
structs available for perceiving one’s own culture are far more complex than those available for other
cultures, so people experience themselves as more “real” than others—even to the point that others
may not seem fully human” (Bennett,2018). My team will get familiar with the cultural before arriving.
My team will understand that “In particular, international humanitarian NGOs fill an important gap be-
tween the needs of vulnerable populations and the aid which governments are able to, and choose to,
provide” (Hart,2019). I will go about building an intercultural team with a sense of belonging by giving
them emotional management training. In doing this the result will be “. To bridge the gap between
these training types, emotional management training may aid to improve effectiveness of diversity train-
ing so that team members feel they are emotionally ready to connect across differences, also helping to
satisfy the goals of team training by helping trainees feel a shared emotional connection to the collective
group” (Davis,2022). This training will be available for my NGO team and partners in the community.
NGO’s working with partners in the community should be familiar with the Cross-Cultural Communica-
tion Theory. “Cross-cultural communication research is a subfield of intercultural communication, which
comprises etic (from an outsider’s perspective) research studies which compare and contrast people’s
communication behaviors from diverse cultures and explain differences across those cultures”
(Merkin,2017). Being familiar with this theory will help to understand what communication style and
cultural- level the community is using.
