Still hanging around

Maryssa Haynes took a photo of this moose on Friday, January 29th southeast of Glasgow along the
Fort Peck Highway. There is a pair of them
that are still hanging out as “the proof is in the
pudding”. That’s not dog food we found while
doing a Sunday Sullivan stroll. While moose
scat has a different appearance during each
climate because of the food that they eat and
the varying availability of water. During winter
when green vegetation is scarce, moose scat
will seem to be more like dry oval nuggets
about 1-1.5 inches long and 0.5-0.8 inches in
diameter and are often found in piles just like
this one pictured at right. Although we didn’t
get a glimpse of the mooses (or is it moose or
meese?) there is plenty of fresh evidence along
the trail — plenty of dog s(h)cat as well. Some dog owners tend to clean up after their dogs’ doo-doos, but
many of them don’t. As for the moose scat, at least they don’t crap right on the walking trail!

Here’s an interesting headline: “Patrick Mahomes
Promises To Chug Beer From Cooper Manning’s Boot If
The Chiefs Win The Super Bowl”
Mahomes is the Kansas City quarterback hoping
to guide the Chiefs to Super Bowl LVII. Manning is the
host of the television show The Manning Hour for Fox
Sports as well as principal and senior managing director
of investor relations for AJ Capital Partners. He is the
eldest son of former professional football quarterback
Archie Manning, and the older brother of former
professional football quarterbacks Peyton Manning and
Eli Manning. Although both Peyton and Eli have made
star turns hosting Saturday Night Live, Cooper is the
real comedian in the Manning family.
Said Mahomes about drinking beer from Cooper’s
boot:
“Fill it up with cold beer, and the rest is history.”
But, he said it had to be his favorite beer:
“Yeah a cold Coors Light that is… Cold Coors Light,
you know, I’d say that’s probably about five of them?”
And that’s when Mahomes promised that he’d chug
beer from Cooper’s boot if they win the Super Bowl:
“Post Super Bowl. If you bring that thing there, and
we get the win, I’ll drink the beer from the boot with you.”
However, he made sure that Cooper knew the
boots had to be clean first:
“Yeah, but I gotta make sure you wash your socks
before we do that.”
The KC quarterback has been known to easily slurp
down a case of Coors Light. Comedian Andrew Santino
once recalled a wild night at one of his shows in Dallas,
Texas, where Mahomes was in attendance. Allegedly, he
drank the whole venue out of Coors Light, drinking 13
for the first show, and around 10 after he stayed for the
second show. And then the two went out on the town.
So, apparently, that venue in Dallas, Texas doesn’t
stock enough Coors Light — especially if the Kansas
City Chief quarterback makes an appearance!

second place trophy, scoring 188 points. Huntley Project
ran away with the championship with 331 points. Colstrip
was third with 156.
Donaldson (26-11) won his title at the 170 Weight
class where the senior won a 5-3 bout over Garrett
Sholley of Huntley. Donaldson received a first round bye
before pinning Wyatt Beddes of Shepherd in 4-minutes,
48-seconds. He followed that with a 4-2 decision over
Trevin Bradley of Colstrip.
Gamas (43-10) claimed his first of many browns at
the 138 class. The freshman narrowly defeated Hayden
Ramaeker of Huntley, 3-2. Gamas started off with a fall
over Joe Arensmeyer of Harlem in 2-minutes, 54-seconds.
He added two more pins over Bryce Becker of Circle in
4-minutes and Dylan Grant of Colstrip in 4:50.
Ted See (26-21) finished third at 120 with a fall over
teammate Cash Richardson in 2:47. See’s first match came
in the quarterfinals where he won a 5-1 decision over
Gage Raihl of Columbus/Absarokee. Gavin Nedens of
Huntley won a 15-0 tech fall over See, dropping him into
the consolation semifinals where he pinned Zeke Sanders
of Chinook in 2:04.
Freshman William Kirkland (36-18) also took third at
145 with a narrow 1-0 win over Lane Snider of Chinook.
Kirkland, whose grandfather and dad played basketball for
Nashua, won a 5-2 match over Riggin Schaffer of Broadus
in a quarterfinal bout. Tyler Niles of Shepherd won an 8-0
major decision over Kirkland. Kirkland came back to win a
3-0 bout over teammate Jack Cornwell.
Mo Fast (13-2) also finished third at 285 with a
4-minute, 24-second fall over Damien Ort of Fort Benton.
The senior made quick work against Rollen Spotted Bull of
Poplar with a 17-second pin. Huntley’s Gunnar Olander
pinned Fast in 3:10. ZFast battled back to win a fall over
Gabe Vasquez of Forsyth in 1:58.
Cody Kuka (16-9) lost a 10-1 major decision to Trey
Starcher of Forsyth to finish fourth at 103. The eighth-
grader started off with a fall over Casey Koenixgsfield of
Baker in 23 seconds. He followed that with an 8-0 major
decision over Wyatt Johannes of Huntley. Big Sandy’s
Quinn Rodewald Won a 14-1 major decision over Kuka in
a semifinal match. Kuka came back to pin Ruben Nelson of
Circle in 1:30.

The Cottonwood Inn & Suites is shaking things up again! Along with the addition
of 23 new rooms in the West Wing, they are also remodeling/rebranding the
BURGER
Willows Restaurant & Sagebrush Lounge. The Head Chef Shawn Bergstrom &
Dining Room Manager Michelle Tade are changing up the menu to match the all
new modern twists Betty Stone has crafted for the restaurant. “the Wood”
restaurant, lounge & casino will feature some new menu items as well as some
of your favorite dishes, along with their signature soups and dinner specials. “It’s
been almost 10 years since we have had a remodel, and with this new look, our
team would really like to focus on a higher quality level of dining & service.”
Construction will begin on March 19th, with the dining room closing at 2 pm.
Food service will resume March 20th in the banquet room until March 28th,
when they are scheduled to reopen as “the Wood”. The lounge will also be
