BALIK ESKWELA LEARNING CONTINUITY PLAN

SY 2021-2022

RATIONALE

This year's Brigada Eskwela, which commenced on the 3rd of August and ended on the 30th of
September 2021, focused on collaboration and strengthening of partnership engagements to
complement DepEd's efforts in duly executing the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP).
Through this program, the delivery of quality basic education is ensured amid Covid-19 pandemic. In
addition, "Bayanihan para sa Paaralan" was adopted as the suitable theme for Brigada Eskwela 2021 to
emphasize the country's collective efforts in promoting collaboration for safe living and addressing social
issues and concerns in schools, at homes and in the community, as reflected in the DepEd Memorandum
048 s. 2021, issued on the 2nd of August 2021. In relation to the opening of classes on September 13,
2021, Secretary Leonor Magtolis-Briones said that it was in pursuant to Republic Act 11480 (“An Act to
Lengthen the School Calendar from Two Hundred (200) Days to not more than Two Hundred Twenty
(220) Class Days”) and with the department's commitment to ensure that education continue amid the
challenges of face-to-face classes brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In view of the aforesaid, the opening of classes for SY 2021-2022 at Magdum National High
School started out with the crafting of the Learning Continuity Plan which was aligned in and adjusted
based on the context of the learners considering the current health issues besetting the country. For
instance, the allocation of local funds was mostly used to procure the materials for module printing,
thermal scanners and other related medical supplies (e.g. alcohol, cleaning agents, face mask,
faceshield, etc.) needed for the protection and health protocols of learners and the internal and external
stakeholders of the school-community. DepEd policies, rules, and regulations during enrolment and
opening of classes due to the COVID-19 situation was also enforced. Alongside the abovementioned
instruction-based practices, teacher-advisers continued the conduct of Magdum National High School's
reading programs and activities both in English and Filipino respectively titled Project READER
(Reinforce, Engage, and Develop Every Reader) and Project PAHINA (Pagbasa'y Hikayatin,
Nasyonalismo'y Aalab din) through the Brigada Eskwela program which sought to engage partners in the
promotion and provision of learning materials so as to further reinforce the education of learners in the
new normal education. Likewise, the annual three-week Math training was also conducted to support
student-participants in their Math Quest. Moreover, other community stakeholders, the local
government officials, and parents were also enjoined to extend help in the procurement of the needed
materials for the successful launching of SY 2021-2022 classes.
