1 RRU5862 Description
The RRU5862 is an outdoor remote radio unit. It is the RF part of a distributed base station
and can be installed near an antenna. The RRU5862 modulates and demodulates baseband
and RF signals, processes data, amplifies power for signals, and supports voltage standing
wave ratio (VSWR) tests.
With the software-defined radio (SDR) technology, the RRU5862 can work in multiple modes
through software configuration.
The RRU5862 adopts an 8T8R design, which further improves the output power and carrier
capacity.
The RRU5862 cannot be combined with other RRUs.
The RRU uses a modular design. Its external ports are located at the bottom of the module
and in the cabling cavity.
Figure 1-2 shows the physical ports on the RRU5862 and Table 1-1 describes these ports.
RRU5862 (AWS+PCS)
The mapping version information about the RRU5862 (AWS+PCS) is as follows:
Earliest mapping software version of the base station: SRAN18.0
PnP software versions supported by the base station: SRAN16.1 and SRAN17.1
The application differences of the RRU5862 (AWS+PCS) in different versions are as follows:
From SRAN17.1 onwards, the RRU5862 can work in NR FDD on AWS and PCS and
the NR FDD carrier bandwidth can be 5 MHz, 10 MHz, 15 MHz, or 20 MHz.
From SRAN18.1 onwards, the RRU5862 can be configured with 4T MIMO UMTS
carriers.
If the RX and TX signals of the RRU5862 are configured on the same port, the configurations
of the cell whose TX signals' PIM3 products fall in the RX frequency bands cannot take
effect.
An RRU5862 (1800 MHz+2100 MHz) can work in the 1800 MHz frequency band, 2100 MHz
frequency band, or both frequency bands.
When the RRU5862 works in one frequency band, frequency band is used to indicate the band.
When the RRU5862 works in multiple frequency bands at the same time, frequency band
1+frequency band 2 is used to indicate the bands. For example, RRU5862 (1800 MHz+2100 MHz).
Table 2-2 TX/RX modes and capacity of an RRU5862 (1800 MHz+2100 MHz)
Table 2-3 Output power and carrier configurations of an RRU5862 (1800 MHz+2100 MHz)
When the RRU5862 (1800 MHz+2100 MHz) works in either a single frequency band or two
frequency bands, the maximum output power is 8x40 W. That is, on a single channel, if the
total output power of 1800 MHz carriers is 20 W, the total output power of 2100 MHz carriers
cannot exceed 20 W.
Each value of Output Power per Carrier (W) in the Typical Power Configurations document
indicates the maximum output power of each carrier under the corresponding configuration while
ensuring the network performance. The actually configured carrier power of RF modules can be less
than or equal to the value of Output Power per Carrier (W) in the document. The power
configuration that is not supported in the document may be configurable on the software. Huawei
can only promise the performance with the power configurations listed in the document.
Receiver Sensitivity
The GSM receiver sensitivity, as recommended in 3GPP TS 51.021, is measured at the antenna
connector assuming that the channel rate is 13 kbit/s and the bit error rate (BER) is lower than or
equal to 2%.
The UMTS receiver sensitivity, as recommended in 3GPP TS 25.141, is measured at the antenna
connector assuming that the channel rate is 12.2 kbit/s and the bit error rate (BER) is lower than or
equal to 0.001.
The LTE FDD receiver sensitivity, as recommended in 3GPP TS 36.141, is measured under a 5 MHz
bandwidth based on the FRC A1-3 in Annex A.1 (QPSK, R = 1/3, 25 RBs) standard.
The LTE NB-IoT receiver sensitivity, as recommended in 3GPP TS 36.141, is measured under a 200
kHz bandwidth and a 15 kHz subcarrier spacing based on the FRC A14-1 in Annex A.14 (π/2 BPSK,
R = 1/3, 1 RB) standard.
The NR FDD receiver sensitivity, as recommended in 3GPP TS 38.141, is measured under a 5 MHz
bandwidth based on the Annex A.1 (QPSK, R = 1/3) standard.

DC RRUs can use external power modules to support AC scenarios. For details about the types of
external power modules supported by each type of RRU, see section "RRU Auxiliary Devices" in

The maximum level of cascading between an RRU and a BBU depends on the cascading
capability of the RRU working in different RATs and the bandwidth resources of the CPRI
ports on the BBU side. The following table provides the maximum level of cascading and
maximum distance between an RRU and a BBU when the RRU works in a single mode.
When the RRU works in multimode concurrency scenarios, the maximum level of cascading
and maximum distance between the multimode RRU and a BBU are determined by the
capabilities for the mode with the lowest capabilities.

When the RRU5862 works both in AWS and PCS frequency bands, third-order passive
intermodulation (PIM3) may affect the RX frequency bands.
This module does not support the scenario where the PIM3 products fall in the RX frequency
bands. Therefore, before using this module, ensure that the spectrum combinations of carriers
will not cause such a problem.
The PIM3 products of TX signals can be prevented from affecting the RX frequency bands if
the difference between the absolute value of the highest frequency in the transmit frequency
band of the RRU5862 (AWS) (indicated by F2 in the following figure) and the absolute value
of the lowest frequency in the transmit frequency band of the RRU5862 (PCS) (indicated by
F1 in the following figure) is less than or equal to 200 MHz.
