Flapless Dental Implant Surgery with Surgical

Guide

“Reflect And Sew or just Punch and Phew!”

With the advances and increased applications of technology in dental field,
Guided Implant Dentistry is a Game Changer.
Since the introduction of flapless guided dental implant surgery, techniques
have undergone many modifications and advances. Some dental implant surgeons
were early adopters of this technology, but many have been somewhat sceptical
to adopt and adapt this concept. This article will address some of the aspects of
flapless guided implant dentistry. Also, it will help us understand how different
it is form routine conventional implant surgeries and restoration.
- Is Flapless guided surgery an easier way to place a dental implant?
Guided surgery is not only an easier way to place dental implants, but a precise
and minimally invasive procedure. Also, it’s a more precise and an accurate
workflow, which leads to perfection. Guided surgery is an advanced implant
placement technique. Easier said than done, a high level of training and skill is
required to master the techniques and workflow which precedes the clinical
implementation.

- Flapless Guided surgery increases clinical efficiency.

For an implantologist, it is all about minimum armamentarium, decreased
chairside time and increased efficiency. This improved efficiency is most obvious
in multiple-implant and full-arch reconstructions. However, overall, guided
surgery does not reduce treatment time, as additional time is spent on planning
rather than the treatment itself. Making impressions, wax-ups, and cone-beam
computed tomography (CBCT) and optical scans; importing digital imaging and
communications in medicine (DICOM) images; and conducting virtual treatment
planning are all time-consuming activities. Since, we at image3dconversion, are
specialised in guided implant planning, designing and 3D printing surgical
guides, your time is saved when we receive the pertinent prerequisites, and its all
on us to help you deliver best clinical outcome.
- Flap vs Flapless Surgery
Flap Flapless
- Invasive - Minimally Invasive
- More Trauma - Less Trauma
- Decreased Patient comfort - Increased Patient Comfort
- Increased surgical time - Decreased Surgical Time
- May or may not allow for precise - Allows for precise immediate
immediate loading post surgery loading post surgery
- Possibility of more bone -Less bone resorption
resorption
- Esthetics may get compromised -Improved esthetics

- Disadvantages of Flapless surgery which can be managed:

a) Due to lack of surgical visibility especially near vital structures, it all
depends on the pre planning and quality of guide.
At image3dconversion, we follow the best planning, designing and printing
protocols, so that you are rest assured to get the best possible clinical
outcome.
b) As a result of Limited irrigation during osteotomy, there are chances of
necrosis of the bone around implant.
However, with the guide designs at image3dconversion, we take that into
consideration so at to prevent ant bone changes with copious irrigation at
the osteotomy site.
c) Limited hard or soft tissue manipulation, could be a possibility with
flapless surgery. But with the sub-crestal implant placement planning at
Image3dconversion, this aspect can also be taken care of.

With the increased precision of CBCT, we are able to locate all the
anatomical vital structures before planning the implants, so as to prevent
any mishap during the flapless guided surgery procedure.
Identifying these structures and still giving the best prosthetic outcome is
what all implantologists and prosthodontist want, which is really and
practically achievable with flapless guided implant surgery.

As it is rightly said “All’s well that ends Well”, flapless guided implant
surgery is the apt choice and the way forward to implant surgery and
prosthetics, since your precision and predictability of the future prosthesis
is already planned beforehand and in the hands of experts at
Image3dconversion.

Try us to believe it!
