HS ProCem CFA
Scope Hardening accelerating admixture

ProCem CFA is ready to use, a liquid non-chloride hardening accelerator formulated to increase the
early strength of concrete without affecting the initial workability.

Conforms to: IS 9103-99 ; ASTM C 494/C494M- 11 Type C

Uses and
Advantages
For high early strength concrete : ProCem CFA is used to produce excellent results in normal and
hot weather conditions where very high early strengths are required .
Benefits
• Early stripping and re-use of forms
• Faster finishing operations on flatwork surfaces
• Earlier post-tensioning
• Effective with Type I/II/III cements
For Precast Concrete :
HS ProCem-CFA delivers excellent results for precast concrete when high early strengths are required
. Curing times are significantly reduced while concrete quality is improved .
Benefits
• Use as a replacement of steam curing to save energy costs .
• Increase early strengths and allow faster rotation of moulds to increase production per day .
• Use as a replacement to Type III cement
Cold Weather concreting
HS ProCem – CFA is an effective hardening accelerator where high early strength concrete is desired
and the use of Calcium Chloride is prohibited .
Benefits
• Insulation and heating costs for curing time can be reduced
• Earlier stripping and reuse of forms increases labor productivity
• Accelerated strength gain allows earlier structural use and speeds completion time .
HS ProCem-CFA does not contain Calcium Chloride or any other intentionally added chlorides and
will not initiate or promote the corrosion of reinforcing steel present in concrete. Placing concrete in
freezing conditions :
HS ProCem-CFA when used at recommended dosage rates , may reduce the need for cold weather
concreting practices as laid out in ACI 306 .
Good concreting practices should always be followed for best result at an optimal dosage rates .

To improve cohesion and workability of concrete mixes where poorly graded aggregates must be used
and bleeding, segregation or sand runs occur.

Dosage Contact Berger Concrete Technologist for support and technical assistance
guidelines HS ProCem-CFA should be used @ 0.6 – 2.0 % by weight of cement to promote high early
strengths . Berger recommends that trial mix should always be carried out to determine the right
dosage.

Mixing & Mixing :

dispension Add correct amount of HS ProCem-CFA at the concrete plant or into ready mix truck at the job site .
The admixture may be added manually or by automated dispenser directly into the sand or into the
water line at the batch plant .When used in combination with other admixtures care must be taken to
dispense each admixture separately into the mix . Do not mix with dry cement .
Use with other admixtures :
HS ProCem –CFA performs well in combination with other admixtures such as non retarding
water reducers, high range water reducers and air entraining agents . Do not mix HS ProCem-CFA
with expansion agents or shrinkage compensating agents .
Dispensing :
HS ProCem-CFA is added directly to the mixing water , prior to it’s addition to the aggregates .
Increased air contents, generally have a detrimental effect on strengths . This can be adequately
catered for by using HS Pro superPlast or HS Pro hyper plast admixture . Please refer to our
Technical ServicesDepartment .

Safety Accidental splashes onto skin must be washed off with water and soap. In contact with eyes or mucous
guidelines membrane, rinse with clean warm water and seek medical attention without any further delay.
Do not dispose of into water or soil, but it is advisable to do it as per local regulations.
Non-toxic under the relevant local health & safety codes.
