Before the barangay was declared or barangay Taguitic it was known in the old
Name as "PALAWRANAN" this was because inhabitants livehood and resources
were mainly weaving of nipa leaves (Nipa Shingles).
The word Taguitic derived from the Visayan term (Tagu-itic) which literally
means the hiding place and habitat of the duck. One of the reasons the place was
name after because of the variety of marches trees and Nipa grew which serve as
the wild duck centaury. Several hunters from different places come to hunt wild
duck.
Subanin tribe was Known ar the first people who live in Taguitic. After
world War IL, people from the province of Cebu and Ilo-ilo who are Cebuano and
Ilongos came to reside. They grew in number and the pointed Mr. Entiquio
Ceniza Sr. as their leader.
Barangay has a total land erea of 3,143h which consist of 7 puroks. There
is 1065 household which has a total male of 1237 families. It has a total
population of 4537 which has a total male of 2327 and female 2,200 with 2,240
total voters. Majority of the community depend their income mainly on the sea
while some wear nipa leaves.
