OBJECTIVES:
1. To determine the average illumination level in the morning, noon
and afternoon.
2. To determine the average illumination level during night.
ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to know the variation of the intensity illumination level
during day and night, and used it in designing your lighting ideas during day and night.

The method used is the direct measurement in the study area, collecting measurement
data and map the numbers into a formula the density distribution of incoming light to
further simulate the density distribution of daylight that enters the room apartments and
distribute the value of illumination with daylight factor. Simulation of light distribution
daytime (daylight) used a simple method, which can result shows the distribution of light
from the highest intensity to the lowest intensity. The results showed that the value of
the existing distribution is useful to conduct a study follow-up study on the distribution
of light in the room. Illumination distribution is expected to be useful for the design of
spatial structure for architects.

You will get the idea easier if you know the basic concept of the study you are doing.
INTRODUCTION

In this fieldwork we are going to measure the natural light source

coming from the sunlight and moonlight, and find the average
illumination level in the morning, noon and afternoon. As well as we
are to determine the average illumination level during night. We all
know that suns produced light and that light is measured as lux or the
lumens/area but how about moon, in particular moon can produced
light in the evening but we don’t know if it has an illumination level.
So, using an application that can measure the illumination of
something that can produced light we will show you on how it will be
and how important to understand the lighting specially when you are
an engineer it will help you to give an idea in proper lighting.

Observation and Analysis
So, the first objectives to this field work is to determine average
illumination level in the morning, noon and afternoon. First move we
do is to find a spot where sun and moon is visible to us wherein no
trees and artificial lighting will affect to our work. After we find a spot
we planned to took a 10 x 10 dimension so as if we measure the
illumination level we will see the variation of data that we will
determine. So, at 8:00 am (sunny day) we gradually start the gathering
using an application that can measure a lux. When we are already
done in each hour. We figure it out that 12:00 noon in day light has a
highest average illumination level as shown in Table 1. The idea is the
more the sun because closer and closer above you were standing
especially when the sun position is perpendicular to your position the
higher the lux or the ambient level of it. But the ambient level also
depends on the presence of clouds and haze, and may vary minute-
to-minute due to cloud cover and atmospheric turbidity. As show in
table 1. You will see that being cloudy may lessen the ambient level of
the sun.

At night try to measure the illumination level with moon and without
moon but we fail to determine the average illuminance level during
night because our application we are using is cannot measure some
decimal values. But base on our research starlight on a clear night
has a brightness of 0.001 lux and moonlight has 0.2 lux. So, in
comparison during daylight and night time, sun light may be as
intense lux based to this field work.
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
When the light emitted reaches a specific area, the term lux (lx) is used. It is a unit of
measurement equivalent to one lumen / m² and with which it is possible to calculate how much
lighting affects a given area. However, in order to evaluate the amount of light, it is necessary to
take into account aspects such as the dimensions of the space, the height of the luminaire and
its distance to the target surface, as well as the photometric data of the lamps and their amount.

So, in simplest manner the more the light closer to you the higher the illuminance level and the
more the area the light covered the lower illumination level it is prove by this formula,
Lux=Lumens/m2.
