Town of Malta, Planning Board Meeting


1) PDD #11-03 Cramer Rd: - 72 units and two residential lots - Planning Board has recommended the addition of sidewalks be placed on both sides of streets - There has been a demolition permit issued for the home located on the lot - Land owners in back of property would like to make sure a buffer is constructed between lots and the developer has agreed 2) Lot Line Adjustment #11-29 - Possible residential development on parcel but at this time Mr. Speshock does not have any intentions of developing that land - Planning Board approved the lot line adjustment 3) Concept Plan Amendment #11-20, Malta Diner - The Malta Diner would like to add 19 parking spaces to accommodate the additional traffic - The Planning Board would like the Malta Diner to investigate into other locations for parking other then the Rt.9 street side - The Planning Board liked the idea of the construction of a vinyl fence to make a nicer street appearance 4) Architectural Guidelines for Saratoga Medical Park - The site has great solar orientation due to the north-south lot - Parking is in back of the buildings making the appearance much more pleasant - Hospitals goals is to construct a building that mirrors the former use of the property; i.e. farm, community, farm house style buildings - The Planning Board was unsure whether or not the Saratoga Medical Park needed to accept architectural guidelines through the PDD legislation. 5) Site Plan Ammendment #11-28 Ellsworth Commons - Applicant is seeking amendment to the site plan to incorporate changes made to structures - Issues regarding the faade of the building as well as questions in regard to street light placement, and awning locations were raised by the Planning Board. - The Planning Board made a recommendation for Ellsworth Commons to consult with their architects to develop a different visual appearance on the Rt.9 side of the building My Thoughts: For those who were unable to attend tonights meeting, there was much discussion surrounding the Site Plan Amendment for the Ellsworth Commons buildings. I would first like to state that I applaud Ms. Woerners and Chairman Rockwoods leadership and comments in regards to the faade and aesthetic looks of the Ellsworth Commons buildings. The level of disrespect shown at

August 16, 2011 tonights meeting to our Planning Board from the Ellsworth Commons representatives was astonishing. Our residents and I included should be proud of our Planning Board to have stepped up to the demands sought by Ellsworth Commons. I am happy to have seen our government fight back for the peoples best interest and I look forward to the special presentation on possible faade changes to Ellsworth Commons.
