Daily Technical Report

Sensex (16731) / Nifty (5036)
Markets opened higher but could not sustain at higher levels as selling pressure intensified around resistance zone which dragged indices lower to give a close in negative territory. On the sector front Realty, Metal and Banking counters were among the major losers. The advance decline ratio was in favor of declining counters (A=849 D=1984). (Source www.bseindia.com)

No major formation is seen on the chart.

Trading strategy:
Markets opened on an optimistic note in-line with overnight positive sentiments across global indices and showed some signs of strength during the first hour of the session but failed to sustain at higher levels as strong selling emerged near resistance level of 17050 / 5150. On the downside, if indices break yesterdays low of 16673 / 5015 then they are likely to test short term support level of 16430 / 4945. On the other hand, yesterdays high of 17036/ 5132 may act as a resistance in coming trading session. If indices manage to cross this level then they are likely to test 17250 / 5200 level.
