SCIENCE FINAL EXAM

Vocabulary
1. Bacteria: From a very diverse group of tiny unicellular
beings whose size is around that of a millimeter.

2. Fungi: Very varied kingdom the majority of fungi are

multicellular and do not have tissues and they are
consumers.

3. Algae: Can be multicellular or unicellular but they never

have real tissues, they produce their own food in the same
way as plants.

4. Cyanobacteria: Are a group of monera which are almost the

same as a bacteria and they characterized by the fact that
they are producers.

5. Spores: Are formed in the cap of the mushroom, they are

special cells with a coating which makes them very
resistant.

6. Filaments: The cells in fungi are grouped together to make

up filaments.

7. Mycelium: A web of hyphae (grouped filaments) tightly knit

together.

8. Monera: This kingdom is made up of the simplest of all

organisms.

9. Plant Kingdom: Is the second largest kingdom , there are

around 200,000 known species of plants.
10. Protista: Is a huge and very varied kingdom that includes
beings as diverse as protozoa and algae.

11. Criteria for Classification : To Classify organisms into

kingdoms we use three criteria:
-The type of cells they have
-how the cells are grouped together
-the type of food
