We are pleased to announce the most recent advancements in our Intelligent Store Discus™
product line:

1) Introduction of Intelligent Store Discus v2.1 compressor platform

2) Discontinuing the production of our first generation Intelligent Store Discus v1.0
compressor platform

1) The second generation of the Intelligent Store Discus

compressor platform is available on all 2D, 3D, 4D, and
®
6D Copeland Discus compressors and can be identified
by an “A” in the first digit of the bill of material
identification as demonstrated below:

Continuous improvements to v2.0 have led to Intelligent Store Discus v2.1 with improved
diagnostic algorithms, increased tolerance to electrical noise, reduction in electrical connections,
and improved serviceability. These improvements are made by updating the firmware (software)
in the Control and Sensor Module and eliminating the need for the Identification Module that was
attached to the compressor just below the terminal box. These changes will not affect how the
Intelligent Store Discus compressor is wired or applied in OEM systems.

These improvements will be implemented into production orders beginning March 17, 2009.
These improvements can also be visually identified by the Intelligent Store Discus LCD screen
flashing “Intelligent Store Discus v2.1” during initialization or by the Sensor and Control Module
part numbers shown in the table and pictures below.

Emerson will be offering early adopters of Intelligent Store Discus v2.0 the option to upgrade
existing compressors in operation to the Intelligent Store Discus v2.1 technology. Please contact
your Emerson Climate Technologies’ sales representative for further details.

2) The first generation of the Intelligent Store Discus

compressor platform was available on all 2D, 3D, and 4D
Copeland Discus compressors and can be identified by a “6” in
the first digit of the bill of material identification as
demonstrated below:

Since the introduction of the next generation Intelligent Store Discus v2.0 compressor, customers
have been transitioning applications away from Intelligent Store Discus v1.0 technology.
Therefore Emerson Climate Technologies will be discontinuing the OEM production of Intelligent
Store Discus v1.0 compressors beginning immediately. Any orders that are placed for the
obsolete Intelligent Store Discus v1.0 compressors must be transitioned to Intelligent Store
Discus v2.1 by an Emerson Climate Sales Representatives and/or Customer Service
Representatives.

Service components for Intelligent Store Discus v1.0 will continue to be offered through Emerson
Climate Technologies Authorized Wholesalers as detailed in bulletin W32-06
