SUBJECT: New Oil Equalization Line For 14 to 30 Hp Copeland Scroll® Tandems
ACTION REQUIRED: Implement New Oil Equalization Line Design

In an effort to continually improve our products, we are releasing a new Oil Equalization Line (OEL)
design for 14 to 30 Hp Copeland Scroll® tandem compressors that utilize the OEL configuration.
The new OEL with part number 528-2255-00 will replace all usage of the current OEL with part
number 028-1082-00 for all production by Emerson Climate Technologies. Use of this new OEL will
begin in October 2009. The following models will be affected.

The new OEL includes an oil access valve that allows for oil adjustment in tandem assemblies. The
new OEL also uses a new bend geometry that has been optimized for use with Copeland Scroll
Digital™ tandems, and provides improved operation on other tandem models. The pictures on the
next page show the new geometry and the location of the oil access valve on the OEL.

Any OEM that assembles their own 20 to 30 Hp Copeland Scroll Digital™ tandems shown in rows 3
and 4 above must use the new OEL. Use of the straight OEL will not be permitted due to the
modulation frequencies in digital tandems.
