Introduction

General definition:
Safety is concept that include all measure and practice to preserve the life and health.
Hazard is anything that have potential to cause harm in term of human injury, illness.
Risk is the combination of two things, the chance that the hazard will cause harm and how serious that
harm could be.
Risk assessment is the process to identify the hazard potential hazard and analyze what could happen
if hazard occurs.
Hirarc is the technique use to control the hazard impact.

Hirarac process:
• Classify the work activity.
• Identify the hazard.
• Conduct the risk assessment (analyze and estimate the risk from each hazard by likelihood of
occurrence and the severity of hazard) .
• Decide if risk is tolerable and apply control measure.

The scope of occupational health and safety:

The occupational health and safety is relevant to all department of the industry. It affects all aspect of
the work. The health and safety executive mission to ensure the risk of health and safety of work are
properly controlled.
It is working to encourage the organization to:
• To improve the health and safety management to reduce injury and health illness.
• Demonstrate the importance of health and safety issue at broad level.
• Report publicly on health and safety issue within their organization.

Problem statement
A team of two workers operates a cross-cut saw machine. Their work includes loading wood panel
onto the machine, cutting the wood and unloading the cut wood. They also need to repair and maintain
the machine regularly as well as to change the blades of the machine. Apply the risk assessment process
to this Activity.

Solution
By look to the process of cutting the wood. Implement the hirarc process in form of table to conduct the
study

Conclusion
The doing of risk assessment is very important as it make a consciousness of hazard and the risk associated
with it and also determine whether the control program is required or no. and the outcome of this process
it prevent the injury or health illnesses if it meets the adequate design.
