1.0 GENERAL INFORMATION

Voice Norge AS has, with concern for the health of customers, the environment and working
conditions, established Voice Norge AS’ Restricted Substance List for all our products.

Voice Norge AS’ Restricted Substance List consists of four parts: General information and explanatory
remarks, Restricted chemicals in products and packaging, Appendices and a List of approved
laboratories for chemical testing globally.

Each limit in Voice Norge AS’ Restricted Substance List is valid for homogeneous parts of the
concerned product, i.e. all details on your product must comply with Voice Norge AS’ Restricted
Substance List. Individual restricted substances with CAS RN are specified in the Appendices.

By accepting Voice Norge AS’ Restricted Substance List, the supplier commits to comply with Voice
Norge AS’ Restricted Substance List. It is the supplier’s responsibility to assure compliance with Voice
Norge AS’ Restricted Substance List and to inform all their downstream suppliers and subcontractors
about the content of Voice Norge AS’ Restricted Substance List.

Products produced for Voice Norge AS must not contain more than 1000mg/kg of any substance on
the SVHC list (Substances of Very High Concern). Where substances are listed both in the SVHC and in
the Voice Norge AS list, Voice Norge AS’ requirements should be followed.

By accepting Voice Norge AS’ Restricted Substance List, each Supplier acknowledges that Voice Norge
AS reserves the right to:

 Ask for chemical testing reports from an approved testing laboratory for all orders above
5000 pieces.
o Test expenses are at the account of the supplier. The supplier has a mutual
responsibility, together with Voice buyer, to account for this during price
negotiations.
o All tests must be performed at an approved testing laboratory (Please see: 3.0 List of
Approved Chemical Testing Facilities) on a correct pre-production sample which is Kommentert [HS2]: Added
identical to the product sold in stores; e.g. correct fabric, colour, print, accessories
and finishing treatments.

 Inspect and test any product, any part of production and/or packaging, by any listed or
appropriate method, at any time or at any stage of production.

 Cancel the order, or, if the products are already delivered, return the products to the Supplier if
the product, production and/or packaging do not correspond to Voice Norge AS’ Restricted
Substance List.

 Hold the supplier responsible for any damage caused by the ordered product if the product,
production and/or packaging does not correspond with Voice Norge AS’ Restricted Substance
List.

 Receive the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all substances and preparations (dyes,
colourants, solvents, chemicals etc.) used in the production of a specific order.

In the case of contradictory test results, Voice Norge AS’ result will prevail.

2.0 EXPLANATORY SECTION

Limit value: Limit value as agreed in business sector and or by legal requirements.
Note that the limit value is measured in products. Weight per cent
shall be calculated from the weight of the whole product if nothing
else is stated.

CAS RN: Chemical abstract services registration number.

CAS RN is given for specific defined substances.

Properties: Human toxicological and eco-toxicological properties.

Comments: Information on known alternatives and recommendations on how to

avoid unwanted chemicals.

Test method: Standardised test method if such exists. Test equipment if no

standardised test method exists. Abbreviations of recommended test
equipment are explained below.

Detection limit: Lowest concentration the test equipment is able to detect. This can
vary between different test laboratories. Note that detection limit is
not as relevant as required limit values for all substances as the
background concentrations can be notably higher

Packaging material: According to Directive (EC) No 94/62/EC of 20 December 1994 on

packaging and packaging waste. The directive regulates substances in
packaging material, meaning all products made of any materials of
any nature to be used for the containment, protection, handling,
delivery and presentation of goods, from raw materials to processed
goods, from the producer to the user or the consumer

Relationship between units used in the guide

1000 mg/kg equals: 1000 ppm (parts per million)
1 000 000 μg/kg (microgram per kilogram)
0.1% (by weight)
x μg/m2: x depends on the thickness of the fabric (kg/m2)
x μg/cm2/week.
x is a measure of the release of a substance from a surface, and is
only partially dependent on the concentration of the substance.
