Analysis
Human flourishing is the ability to live a good life where it promotes the
growth, development, and holistic well-being of individuals and society. Tyler J.
VanderWeele defined flourishing as growing or developing in a healthy or
vigorous way. In his article, he expounded that human flourishing, consists in
a much broader range of states and outcomes, certainly including mental and
physical health, but also encompassing happiness and life satisfaction,
meaning and purpose, character and virtue, and close social relationships.
Different measures combine different subsets of these various attributes.
These broader are sometimes referred to as measures of “eudaimonic”
happiness or well-being. Eudaimonic is term coined by Aristotle to describe
the pinaccle of happiness by human. In this modern culture, humans are no
longer practicing human flourishing in a simple way ,most of the people are
not contented in everything and had easily lost interest in some ordinary thing
particularly in a natural way of living. There is a phenomenon in our current
society that humans need to work hard and be busy in order to be successful.
However, this is not the main case. Without human flourishing, human
advancement is hindered. As time change, human flourishing concepts
changed. People nowadays always found means to live comfortably, earn
more money, more concern in business growth and travel or visit in many
places. In fact, these things are considered as their happiness in life, also a
way for them to live a good life. As I've observed in today’s generation,
humans are more focus on the new trends and more dependable in various
objects like technology, wherein technology change our way of living from a
manual doing to an high-tech and robotic machine.The wide applicability of
these technologies has led and resulted to broad concern about the
destruction of jobs of many workers. Don't let our society ruin by this
innovation because everyone have a chance to live a good life if we are
contented and satisfied with all the things that we have in life.
