MRI FACE AND NECK(CEMR)

TECHNIQUE: MRI of face and neck done with T1 weighted sequences, PD weighted and STIR sequences in axial, coronal and sagittal
planes. Post contrast study done.

SPECIMEN : Left buccal mucosa biopsy


CLINICAL HISTORY : Ulcerative growth on Left cheek. Irregular growth left cheek.
GROSS : Received 1 grey brown soft tissue bit measuring 6 cm(AP) x 4 cm(W) x 4 cm (CC).
MICROSCOPY & IMPRESSION : Left buccal mucosa biopsy: Well differentiated Squamous Cell Carcinoma conventional.
HSTOPATH No. : [446276: Entire tissue Specimen - 1]

Imaging Findings:

Post operative FUC of the left lower alveolus with recurrence, the present MRI reveals resection of the right hemimandible. Large ill-
defined soft tissue enhancing mass lesion showing diffusion restriction on DWI sequence is noted at the operative site.
The mass measures ~ 6 cm(AP) x 4 cm(W) x 4 cm (CC). It is invading the entire left hemitongue with extension across the midline on
the neck. Bilateral lingual neurovascular bundles are involved by the mass lesion. The floor of the mouth is involved by the mass
lesion on neck side extending to the adjacent skin. Posteriorly, the vallecula is involved by the mass lesion with thickening of the
epiglottis and the aryepiglottic fold on the neck. The fatty atrophy of the muscles of mastication on neck.

Rest of the oropharynx is normal.

The nasopharynx is normal in MR morphology. No focal lesion seen.

Region of false and true vocal cord is normal. The anterior commissure appears normal.

Left sub-mandibular and bilateral parotid salivary glands are abnormal and post OP in MR morphology. Right sub-mandibular
gland is normal.

No significant cervical lymphadenopathy is seen.

Bilateral parapharyngeal spaces are normal.

Bilateral carotid vessel and UV are normal
