Procedure – Setting
Posts and Beams, cont.
▪ Step 9 – Fasten the notched end of the beam into the beam
pocket and the post end of the beam to the center post.
▪ Step 10 – Plumb and brace the center post.

▪ Step 1 – Measure in from the outside edge of the sill plate the
thickness of the rim joist.
▪ Step 2 – Snap a chalk line between the marks.

▪ Step 1 – Set the floor joists with the crown up on the layout
with their ends aligned to the chalk line in the sill plate.
▪ Step 2 – Toenail the joists to the sill plate.
Expectations
▪ Step 1 – Position the band joist against the end of the floor
joists flush to the end of the sill plate.
▪ Step 2 – Fasten the band joist to the end joist.
▪ Step 3 – Square the next joist up from the sill plate and mark
its position on the top edge of the band joist.
Cutting Bridging

▪ Step 9 – Hold the tongue of the square with the width of the floor
joist dimension on the point established in step 7.

▪ Step 14 – Stand the sheet with the tongue edge on top of the
joists against the grooved edge of the fastened sheet.
▪ Step 15 – Lay the sheet down on top of the joists.
