Geopolitical impact of social, cultural, economic, and technological phenomena

“Impact of Covid 19 on the Chinese Economy”

During the last four decades, China has undergone profound changes in its economy,
politics, and geopolitical vision of the international system. Its economy is no longer
controlled solely by the state but is now regulated by the state in combination with free
market mechanisms.
In December 2021, China was building inter-regional networks of cooperation through
massive infrastructure construction, and the free flow of trade, labor, capital, people, and
information. Such cooperation mechanisms were helpful in the country promoting its
geopolitical strategy in the world system during the pandemic.
The COVID-19 pandemic was raised in China as an event of geopolitical importance. It
highlighted the problem of the balance of power through military, political, and economic
rivalry, and health governance as a central piece.
The pandemic was a crisis but also an opportunity for China. By opportunity I mean, for
example, that the Chinese government, through its dual economy and its cooperative
foreign policy, took advantage of the geopolitical space provided by the pandemic to exert
its influence in Europe, Africa, Latin America, and its allies in Asia.
