Lesson Focus:
● Students will be able to identify and write irregular plural nouns. They will learn that irregular plural nouns
become plural by changing its spelling and some plural nouns don’t follow any spelling rules.
● Students will be able to form and use -ing form of the verb this will help prepare learners for the
Whats … doing? Questions and answers in Speaking Part 3 and Reading and Writing Part 5.

Structure / Activity

● Greetings.
● Warm up: Play the game! Stand up. Sit down again.
● In pairs or small groups, learners make their own monster poster showing three or four different
monster doing different activities.
● Learners could choose and write the monsters’ name and label them with ‘can do’ sentences.
● Pairs/groups take turns to show their posters to other in the class.
● Have students do the exercises on their own (classwork+homework+weekly quiz).
● After students have completed exercises, check their answers.

Lesson 1: u – sun, up, jug, hug 4. CD2 Tracks 48-65.
Lesson 2: ug – bug, rug, mug 5. Laptop+Speaker+Smart TV
Lesson 3: ud – bud, mud 6. Homework+Weekly Quiz

● Learning activities – group learning/individual
practice.
● Students will identify words containing the
short /o/ vowel sound.
● Students will understand the CVC (consonant
vowel sound) pronunciation rule.
Lesson Focus:
● Discover and strengthen the connections between sounds (phonemes) and the letter or groups of letters (graphemes) that
represent those sounds.
● Introducing students to the concept of short vowels and blending letters together to create words.
● The student will have exposure to short /u/ words that follow consonant pattern by using auditory skills to distinguish the
individual sounds within the word.

Structure / Activity
● Greetings.
● Warm up: Play Guess The Next Card with the short /o/ and /ot/ Phonics Cards. Have students stand and try to guess which
card you will show. If they guess incorrectly, they sit down. The last student standing wins.
● Before you begin listening for sounds in words, review the sound the short /u/ makes.
● Play CD2 Tracks 48-65.
● In this lesson students will practice reading words with a short /u/ vowel sound. Practice listening to words and naming the
short u/ vowel sound in the middle of the word.
● Provide a series of pictures and videos of words with a short /u/ vowel sound. Ask students to identify each picture and do
some practice.
● Have to repeat the words, repeat as time permits and students chant along.
● Paired reading. Have student pairs take turns reading key words.
● Have students do the exercises on their own (classwork+homework+weekly quiz).
● After students have completed exercises, check their answers.
● If time permits, divide the class into teams and have each team sit in a line and play the Word Trace Relay.
