Book Club Procedures and Roles

Ground Rules
Create a list of 3-5 rules that every member will follow in order to make this book club successful.
Write them down. Everyone must agree and sign.

Rotating Roles: 4-3-2-1


ALL group members bring the following
● Summarizer: This person will bring a to each meeting:

the Peer Assessments and record the member
averages on the participation sheet.
Meeting Checklist

The summarizer reads the summary of the agreed upon pages for the
day.

Anything (literary) goes - spend some time just discussing what you
think about what you are reading, what you love or hate, etc.

Q.A.R. - Group members take turns discussing the questions they


created for the meeting.

Connections - Everybody share connections they made to self, text,


and world--compare and contrast ideas, etc.

PadPins - View and share PadPins and discuss the meaning and/or
importance of each quotation highlighted

Take-Aways - what are the themes we see developing in the text?

Wrap-Up: Assign pages and roles for next meeting, complete peer
evaluations, and turn folders into teacher
