Let them hear the “Recycling Song”. What are waste materials that are
being mentioned in the song?
C. Presenting Examples/ Instances of the New Lesson

D. Discussing New Concept and Practicing New Skills

Plastic is a wide range of synthetic or semi synthetic organic solid materials suitable for the
manufacture of industrial products. Plastics are polymers of high molecular weight.
Types of Plastics:
1. Thermoplastics - plastics that do not undergo chemical change in the air composition when heated
and it can be molded again and again.
2. Thermoset Plastics – plastics that are permanently “set” once they are initially formed
and can’t be melted.
Material that can be recycled:
● Plastic
Of all the different materials you throw as trash, plastic ranks number one in quantity. The problem
with plastics is that they last a long time in the environment without breaking down. This has become
environmental concern worldwide. This is because plastics are very difficult to recycle. Plastics are
considered as an “environmental nightmare” so you should make an effort to recycle them. Learn to
save our environment by collecting plastics used and reused or give them to junk shops to convert them
into cash.

There are many ways of reusing or recycling plastics. It can be made into water.
and plant containers, desk organizers, garden lamps and others.

2. b. Water container

c. Garden Lamp

4.
d. plant container

Group Activity
Directions: Create your own desk organizer. (Follow the design of the project with the
image shown below).
Materials:
● Five (5) empty plastic bottles (1.5-liter soft drinks bottle)
● Cutter and scissors
● Decorative tape
● Glue stick and glue gun
● Decorative materials (recycled)
Procedure:
1. Clean the bottle and let it dry.
2. Measure the four (4) plastic bottles around 2 1⁄2 -3 inches from the base of the bottle going up then mark it all
around.
3.Measure the remaining plastic bottle around 5-6 inches from the base of the bottle going up and mark it all
around.
4. Cut the mark area of the plastic bottle using a sharp cutter. Set aside the upper part of the bottle for future
recycling projects. (Reminder: Observe safety precautions in using sharp objects)
5. Cover all edges with decorative tape.
6. Glue together the five (5) receptacles as seen below.
7. Design your project with the use of decorative materials.
8. HAVE FUN and ENJOY!

F. Generalization and Abstraction

1. Plastic is a wide range of synthetic or semi synthetic organic solid materials suitable for the manufacture of
industrial products.
2. Two types of plastics are the Thermoplastics and Thermoset Plastics.
3. There are many ways of reusing or recycling plastics. It can be made into water and plant containers, desk
organizers, garden lamps and others.
