A320 FAMILY MAINTENANCE LINE CHECK LIST

TRANSIT CHECK

NOTE

1) Check to be accomplished before EACH FLIGHT at


all TRANSIT STOPS.

2) The performance of following maintenance line


checks does not prevent the accomplishment of flight
crew checks and tests as recommended by the
airline approved FLIGHT CREW OPERATING
MANUAL (FCOM).

3) Revised content shall be indicated through a vertical


bar in the left hand side of the content.

1.0 Arrival Procedure QUALIFIED PERSON *


Prior to arrival to the assigned ramp area, check the following:
(a) Ramp surface condition is adequate for movement operations;
(b) Ramp surface is clear of items that might cause aircraft foreign object

(c) Equipment and vehicles are positioned clear of the movement path
(d) Adequate clearance exists between the aircraft and facilities or fixed
obstacles along the movement path
1.2 Ensure the wheel chocks are in the correct position.
(a) Inspect cabin door area(s) to be used for positioning of the passenger
aerobridges or steps for damage.
If no damage is observed, give clearance to operators of passenger
aerobridges or steps to position at the aircraft.
3 (b) Inspect the aircraft for damage on the following areas - cargo doors, access
panels and service panels, fuselage, engine cowlings and passenger doors.

If no damage is observed, give clearance to all GSE operators to position at the
aircraft.

Note: If any damage is found during the inspections, do not give clearance for
equipment to approach the aircraft in the area where the damage has been
found until the damage assessment is completed.
(a) Install nose landing gear safety device.
(b) Install main landing gear safety devices if maintenance activities require the
use of safety devices or aircraft towing is expected or if Transit time is more

than six hours.
(c) Place the towing lever in the “Tow Position” and install pin for push back or
towing.

* A qualified person may be a Line Maintenance A or B1 certifying staff, Base Maintenance B1 support staff or Technician who has undergone
appropriate training and qualified by Line Maintenance (as defined in EPM 01-04-03 & EPM 01-03-07).

2.0 Preliminary Items
If the aircraft ground time is Three (3) hours or more,
(a) Pull all white coloured circuit breakers.

(b) Install pitot covers and static blanks.
The Installation of covers/ blanks must be recorded in the Technical log
Book.
If the aircraft electrical network is not energized perform a safety check to
ensure proper position of controls and switches before energizing the electrical

Energize the aircraft electrical network.(If Required)
(a) Review technical log book and undertake corrective actions as required.
2.3 (b) Review Deferred Defect record sheet and Cabin Log and action
accordingly.
2.4 At base (CMB) only, Slowly push the brake pedals on the CAPT or F/O side
and check the triple pressure indicator. Ensure that pressure shown at full pedal
movement is between 2400 psi (165 bar) and 2700 psi (185 bar)

Check Engine oil quantity (ECAM LOWER DISPLAY ENGINE PAGE) within 30
minutes after Engine shut-down:
If indication is below minimum check Engine oil level at tank sight-glass, top-up
as required with OIL and record uplift(s) in journey log book as well.
No 1 Engine
No 2 Engine

“WARNING” Do not remove the oil tank cap for five minutes after engine stops
to permit the pressure in the oil tank to decrease.
Note: If the access panel is opened for oil filing. Check Pop out Indicator
of Electric Master Chip Detector.
(ABM/ABN/ABO only)

Select Hydraulic page on lower ECAM and check that Green/ Blue/ Yellow
hydraulic system quantity levels are in normal operating range, and that
“Reservoir low air press” messages are not displayed. Top-up as necessary as
2.6 per AMM and record uplift in the aircraft journey log.

(a) Do a check of the APU oil level on the MCDU (APU data/oil page)
(b) If under MEL and the APU is to be used for the duration of the

(c) Reseal (if required) and record the S/N of the seal at CMB Base station.

(d) Note: If discrepancy found in the content of the CD pouch or Seal not
available, raise DD to replenish and reseal at the next immediate available
opportunity. (At Main Base)
If existing Tech Log / Journey log/ Cabin log books on the Aircraft need to be
replenished:
Record below details and remove the old log books at CMB (refer below Note)

book to Duty Engineer (Line / Base)
On panel 25VU, section EXT LT, perform operational test on Navigation Lights,
Landing Lights, Runway Turnoff Lights, Taxi and
Take-Off Lights, Logo Lights, Anti-collision/Strobe Lights, Wing and Engine

Scan Lights.

Check aircraft is free of ice and snow, If required perform ground De-icing i.a.w
2.15 AMM 12-31-XX as applicable. Ensure that there is no rainwater pool or snow
piles around cargo loading doors and cargo compartments.
Follow cold weather maintenance procedures as per AMM 12-31-00 PB 001 if:
2.16 Outside air temperature (OAT) is less than 0 deg.C and aircraft is not
electrically powered.
Check the LH & RH Wing upper surface (including leading, trailing edge &

3.0 External Check
Carry out an aircraft walk around for evidence of obvious abnormalities
/damages which may have occurred during the last flight or during the landing
and taxi phases:
(a) Impact/F.O.D.
3.1 (b) Fluid leakage
(c) Missing or loose parts
(d) Missing overpressure discharge discs
(e) Fuselage tail skin for damage of ground contact during take off
(f) Any Obstruction of inlet/outlets
3,11 Check brake units for evidence of overheating or leaks on MLG and NLG shock
,16 3.2 absorber for normal extension, wheels for condition, tyres for wear, damage
and evidence of under-inflation and there is no fluid leakage on the brake units.
If transit time is greater than two (02) hours (CMB Only)
3.3 (a) Conduct visual inspection of MLG and NLG Wheel Well for Foreign
objects.

(a) Check the fuselage and APU inlet areas of drain masts and drains for
fluid leakage.
(b) Check visible portions of vertical fin and rudder, visible portions of
horizontal stabilizer, elevators for missing vortex generators, static

dischargers and for obvious damage.
(c) Visually check the thrust reversers, exhaust tail plug, exhaust case struts
and visible turbine blades and 4th stage blades on LPT for obvious
damage and evidence of metal/oil accumulation.

4.0 Refuelling
(a) Obtain water free fuel samples form bowser or “Refuelling trucks” prior to
refuelling.
(b) Refuel aircraft up to required dispatch quantity and record uplift/content in

journey log book.
(c) Ensure refuel coupling caps are in place secured.
(d) Ensure fuel magnetic level indicators are retracted and secured.
5.0 Water/Waste Servicing
(a) Ensure servicing of potable water system is carried out out and no excess
5.1 fluid in the potable water service pipes after servicing. Ensure that water
servicing access door is properly closed and secured.
(a) Ensure Toilets are serviced as required.
(APPILICABLE FOR EVERY TRANSIT THROUGH BASE STATION)
(b) Drain the waste tanks in order to ensure that the tanks are empty, the
outside of the waste drain hose shall be touched by hand to verify that the
fluid flow has stopped before beginning tank rinsing process.
(c) After draining with the waste drain valves in the open position the waste
tank rinsing system shall be connected to the toilet service vehicle, having
5.2 the following requirements.
Pressure 2.4 bars (35-50 psi) Flow rate: Stable at 38.0 L (10.04 Usg) per
minutes Volume to be delivered. Approx 20L (5.3 Usg)close the drain valve
after rinsing and add 01 sachet (each 8 grams) of deodorant Celeste Sani-Pack
AMS 1476 into each toilet bowl flush once before departure to deodorize the
system (AMM 12-16-38).
(d) Ensure no excess fluid in the waste service pipes after servicing and finally
service doors are properly closed and secured.
6.0 Oxygen
(a) Check crew oxygen bottle pressure in “DOOR/OXY” page as follows:
Line Station : Between 900-1850 PSI (70ºF)
CMB : Between 1200-1850 PSI (70ºF)
6.1 NOTE: Above pressure applicable for Transit check only.

(b) Ensure the “REGUL LOPR” message is not displayed on the


“DOOR/OXY” page.
7.0 Cabin
7.1 Ensure all smoke detector inlets are free from any blockage.

Ensure General cleaning of flight compartment, passenger compartments,

service centres and lavatories are carried out.

Applicable only when carrying cargo in the passenger cabin – to be
performed at CMB base.
7.3
Carry out necessary tasks detailed in SWC Ref: GENL-25-0243SW (Latest
revision) prior to next flight as applicable when carrying cargo in the passenger
cabin.
Post Flight Disinfection

Carry out disinfection of aircraft as per SWCR, GENL-25-0242SW (Refer to


Aircraft document folder for SWC).

CMB BASE – (applicable for any flight, passenger or cargo)


• UPON ARRIVAL/COMPLETION OF A FLIGHT.

ALL OTHER STATIONS – (applicable for passenger flights only)


• PRIOR TO NEXT FLIGHT IF THE NEXT FLIGHT IS A LONG HAUL
FLIGHT OR PRIOR TO NEXT FLIGHT AFTER A LONG-HAUL FLIGHT
(This requirement is mandatory for all EU countries. if any other
7.4 destination/station requires a disinfection as per the country regulation,
the aircraft may be disinfected prior to departure).

• Note 1: Long haul flight – Any flight, or series of flights where


passengers and their luggage are not fully disembarked, involving
commercial air transport of passengers and lasting 6 hours or more

• Note 2: Further to above stated preventive disinfections, a disinfection


must be carried out prior to next flight in the event of a suspected case
is reported onboard as per the relevant country regulation(refer the
guidelines provided by SWC GENL-25-0242SW in the aircraft
document folder)

8.0 Final Items


Remove main landing gear safety devices (if installed).

If insect presence is evident in the vicinity of the aircraft, within 15 minutes prior

(b) Ensure no damage has been caused by ground equipment for during or
baggage loading.
Note: If any damages or abnormalities are noted, report immediately to the flight
crew.

9.0 Departure Procedure QUALIFIED PERSON *


Ten minutes prior to departure, the Qualified person* will establish intercom

contact with flight deck and maintain contact until departure clearance is given.
If push back or towing departure required:
(a) Ensure ground towing control is set to the “TOWING” position on the
nose steering deactivation box and lock the lever with safety pin.
9.2
(b) Connect bar to the NLG towing attachment.

Note: Ensure towing angle is not exceeded during towing/ pushback.


9.3 If APU is fully operative, remove GPU/Air-con unit/Air Start unit.
Ensure all ground equipment removed and is clear of aircraft except GPU, ACU
9.4
and ASU as required.
9.5 Inform flight crew that aircraft is clear to start engines.
After engine start, remove all ground equipment as soon as flight crew
9.6
acknowledge that it is no longer required.
When Cockpit crew request pushback:
(a) Remove wheel chocks.
9.7 (b) Request cockpit crew to release parking brake and await confirmation
that brakes are OFF from captain.
(c) Signal tractor driver to commence pushback/towing indication direction
of turn if required.
On completion of pushback, request cockpit crew to set parking brakes and

await confirmation that brakes are ‘ON’.
Position wheel chock at nose wheel and remove tow bar, from the nose landing
9.9
gear towing attachment and move the tractor away.
Before aircraft taxi out for departure:
9.10 (a) Remove nose landing gear safety pin.
(b) Remove safety pin of the nose wheel steering deactivation box and
make sure the towing control lever return to the normal position.
Remove Nose Wheel chocks and move to the left or right hand wingtip and

indicate aircraft is clear to taxi.
