Prayer is the elevation of the mind and the heart to God in adoration, in gratitude, and in a request for the

spiritual and
material things we need. Our Lord Jesus Christ instructed us to go into our inner room and there pray to God the Father
in secret. This inner room indicates the heart, the essence of our being.

Dear God,

We give you the glory and honor for all that you’re doing in our lives every day, even in the times we can’t see it or
understand your ways. Shine your light in us, through us, over us. May we make a difference in this world, for your glory
and purposes. Set your way before us. May all your plans succeed. We may reflect your peace and hope to a world that
so desperately needs your presence and healing.
Help us not to follow after the voice of the crowds, but to press in close to you to hear your whispers and seek after you
alone. We will declare that your love stands firm forever. For your lovingkindness endures forever. In Jesus name we
pray...

Why should we fast?

Nehemiah 1)
4. We fast to receive God’s wisdom and direction. (Acts 13:1-3, 14:21-23)

JABEZ
He was a simple man of faith. There’s no mention in the Bible of Jabez having any special ability or talent or gift. The
Bible doesn’t say that he was wealthy or educated. He was not a great prophet or a great preacher. He was not a wise
ruler over some great nation. He was not famous for being so great warrior who could almost single-handedly win
battles. He is not remembered for his great wealth. He is remembered – because he prayed to God in faith and God heard
him and answered his prayer. But it’s his prayer that sets him above the norm. A simple prayer made him stand out in the
Bible. Our prayers could help us stand out too – to live above the norm.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYER TO A MAN

1. Prayer reminds a man that he is not all powerful and that there is a greater power than him
2. Prayer builds a relationship with God
3. Prayer helps a man to understand himself by aligning himself to the image of God
4. Prayer makes a man interrogate his thoughts and his motives
5. Prayer humbles the man by helping him to conquer his ego, leading to learning and growth
6. Prayer helps a man to deal with his private battles that no one knows of
7. Prayer helps a man to control his temper, anxieties and find solutions
8. Prayer brings peace and healing to a broken man
9. Prayer forces a man to reflect on how he treats his wife, children, parents, friends and those around him; knowing he is
accountable to God
10. Praying with and for others teaches a man to be sensitive to the needs and struggles of others
11. Prayer teaches a man to be vulnerable with God and by extension, teaches him to be vulnerable with his loved ones
12. Prayer activates the spiritual power of a man
13. Prayer equips a man on how to lead his family, his business and society
14. Prayer helps the man grow in the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
humility and self-control
15. Prayer allows the man to own up to his wrongs and pursue a path to be better
BE A PRAYERFUL MAN

here was Moses, who prayed the Red Sea open; Joshua, who prayed the walls of Jericho down; David, who prayed a
giant to defeat; Elijah, who prayed fire down from heaven; Elisha, who prayed iron to float; Esther, who prayed a
disastrous decree into a glorious victory; Daniel, who prayed the mouths of hungry lions shut; Jesus, who prayed water
into wine, demoniacs to sanity, and, after four days in a grave, Lazarus to life. Lastly, there were Peter, James, John,
Paul, and hundreds of others who for centuries have prayed sinners into saints.

A PRAYER FOR STUDENTS TO STUDY WELL

Lord, bless our students with the kind of study habits that help them do their best. Teach them how to manage their time
and energy as good stewards of all You have given them. Show them how to develop their talents, to find the path You
have set before them, and to be courageous and adventurous to try new things and learn new skills. Place our students in
the kind of classroom atmosphere that will both challenge them and encourage them, but still be conducive to their
particular abilities. Show them the importance of learning, remembering that You are always with them, leading them as
they acknowledge You daily. Eliminate the distractions in their lives that keep them from excellence. Give them
persistence and the desire to follow through with each assignment. When things seem difficult, provide the help they
need. Help them to be excited about their studies, to be creative in their endeavors, and to remember Who and Whose
they are at all times. In Jesus name we pray

PRAYER FOR THE CHURCH

Father, I pray that my church will be a congregation that invests in the kingdom of God. I ask that our body will help and
support people who are doing the work of the kingdom, especially in missions, church planning and serving the
oppressed. Help us to be able to support them financially and give them hospitality so they can invest in Your kingdom
without having to work or solicit help from pagans and unbelievers. Make our congregations into accelerants that fuel the
fire of kingdom expansion in Jesus’ name.# Kingdom investment

The secret of effective prayer (James 5:16).

(1) Prayer that is effective must be fervent and earnest - it must really come from the heart! Look up Genesis 32:26;
Isaiah 66:8; Hosea 12:4; Luke 11:8.
(2) Prayer that is effective is that which is worked in by the Holy Spirit - look up and compare Romans 8:26;
Philippians 2:13; Jude 20.
(3) Prayer that is effective must be offered by a righteous man - that is, by a man who is made righteous through faith
in the Lord Jesus Christ - look up Romans 4:5-8; and by a man who is righteous in all his ways before the Lord -
look up Philippians 1:11.
The 4 major Assignments of prayers
1. Growth & Transformation.. LK 9: 29, Jude I: 20
2. Making requests and obtaining promises Phil 4: 6
3. Spiritual Legistration, decree- Creating possibilities Job 22:28, Num 14:28
4. Welfare and Intercession .. Ezeki 22:29

O God who has given all people work to do, help them to do it with all their might. Grant the spirit of wisdom and justice
to all leaders of industry. Bless the men and women who work in offices and factories; strengthen those who labour at the
docks and in the farms; take care of the miners and those whose work is dangerous; and help us all to follow in the steps
of Him who worked as carpenter, even Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Abraham & Sarah

Subtitle : TRUSTING GOD WITHOUT KNOWING THE FUTURE

Gen 12

Abram obeyed and went, knowing nothing in advance. I want to know all the details before I step my foot forward.
However, it’s better to keep moving than to get stuck in disobedience.
When Abram and Sarai arrived in Canaan, the Lord appeared and told Abram that He would give this land to his
descendants. Abram set up camp along with an altar to worship the Lord for His goodness. Abram worshipped God
along the journey. He didn’t know everything, but he thanked God as he went along. He knew that if God had been with
him thus far, He would continue to be with him.
At times, I ask myself what kind of conversations did this couple have? Sarai never doubted her husband and his faith in
His God? It was one thing moving, then came believing that God was going to give them this land. In the midst of the
time, there was a great famine that could cause them to shift Again! And even have her husband lie about their
relationship. Despite the changes in their lives, they chose to trust God for his guidance.
Brethren, lets trust God for the process as we wait to see His goodness in our lives.
