LAC SESSION REFLECTION ON RMPS

“Success is not an accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and
most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.”
The LAC session conducted last Thursday was definitely a good refresher to us, teachers
since there has been a lot of changes. Our School Principal, Mr. Joseph Romel D. Andres shared his
invaluable time and effort to reorient us with updates in the RPMS.
Through DepEd Number 42, s. 2017, Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST)
has been developed and nationally validated as part of reform initiatives on teacher quality. PPST set
the standards on what teachers should know, be able to do and value to achieve competence,
improved student learning outcomes and eventually quality education. It also articulated what
constitutes teacher quality through well-defined domains, strands and indicators that provide measures
of professional accountability that could help teachers reflect on and assess their own practices as they
aspire for professional growth and development.
After the LAC session, I was able acquire a clearer understanding of the topic and for me to
design implementation strategies as well as strategic framework to provide support mechanism in the
school level. Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not
only imply to know the subject to be taught, but it also includes being willing to constantly improve
oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching.
Furthermore, the LAC Session is highly effective in engaging group of teachers in
collaborating and solving shared challenged. I am now guided where I should strive to do better as a
teacher. I was able to reflect about my strengths and weaknesses. During this pandemic, the PPST
guided me in discerning which competencies I should have as a Proficient Teacher so I can deliver
both online and blended learning modalities.
Mr. Joseph Romel D. Andres leaves a remarkable challenge to the faculty that professional
growth and quality teaching skills of every teacher lies on their mighty hands through leading with a
heart.
