• Reading: Students learned about reading with purpose *Your child’s 2 school library books are due by next Thursday.

practiced identifying lowercase alphabet letter names and
reading consonant clusters. Tricky word “I” was added.
Students also learned about tricky spellings where the
letter ‘s’ sometimes makes the /z/ sound in words like:

*Kindergarteners will be able to exchange valentine cards in class
next Tuesday. Please remember if you plan to send valentines to
school, your child must have one valentine for each child in our class.
We have nineteen friends in our class. Please do not write classmates’
names on them, just have your child sign his/her first name.
Unfortunately, sweet treats may NOT be included with the valentine
cards. Thank you for your support and understanding:)

• Math: Students continued to work on naming, identifying,

and analyzing the basic shapes. Students had
opportunities to look closely at the similarities and
differences between the shapes, discussing their
attributes, and sorting them. They also worked with shape FEBRUARY:

• Happy 100th Day of School & Happy Friday!

• The kindergarten students had a very exciting week at school! We enjoyed
celebrating our 100th Day of School today. We did many fun, interactive
activities that focused on the number 100.
• Pancake Day is TOMORROW, Saturday, February 11th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30
a.m. at school. I will be volunteering and flipping pancakes from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30
a.m. I hope you can come. :)
• Mystery Reader begins later this month! A detailed informational note with a
sign-up form is linked on my Friday email for families.
