Comparison

Our EUMIND group had conducted six interviews of both grandparents as well as
parents. They were asked general questions regarding their teenage years as well
specific questions related to health and well-being.
When the grandparents were interviewed, they had very similar lifestyles. All of
them lived in joint families with 6 or more people in the families. They all had a
healthy lifestyle growing up. All of them were physically fit and played various sports.
Their school also played an important role in educating them about their physical
health. Mental health wasn’t a much talked about topic at that time.
While comparing the parents, it can be said that they lived in a family of 5 or 6. They
lived with their parents and siblings. During their childhood years, junk or street food
was introduced and was enjoyed by them. They exercised and played sports as well.
Their schools encouraged physical health as well, although mental health was not
discussed or talked about.
On comparing the grandparents with the parents, we see any similarities and
differences.
Both generations had a healthy lifestyle where they would have local nutritious food
that was available where they lived. They were fit and exercised and played sports
regularly. Their schools played a vital role in advocating the importance of staying fit
and healthy. The concept of mental health wasn’t talked about much, neither in
schools nor at home. They all had similar lifestyles growing up without little to no
difference. However, there was one notable difference in their eating habits with the
change in generation. While interviewing the parents it was noted that junk or street
food was introduced which was enjoyed and became a part of their generation’s
diet. Besides that no noteworthy difference can be seen.
