Prof Ed 103 Case Study

Neurological and developmental illness called autism spectrum disorder (ASD), once known as

childhood schizophrenia, a disorder that sometimes seen by some people as disability which is a

misconception as this disorder only describes behavior, engagement with others, and even

communication’s difference from other people. Autism is classified as a "developmental

condition" and can be diagnosed at any age, however one of the problem about this is that some

were not given early intervention or received wrong intervention which rooted to some negative

impacts not only affecting the growth of the person but also its education and social

interaction. Some developed the perspective about Autism as something that is impossible to cure

and that persons who are autistic is impossible to compete in the different fields which is also a

big misconception as there are numbers of autistic persons who perform good even in medical

field and it still might be possible to have no autistic person having difficulties about their

situation as even though truly there is no known cure for autism spectrum condition, intensive,

early intervention can significantly improve their lives .This case study focuses on looking into

the case of Anita, an 8th grade student diagnosed with Autism, at her age some are now able to

cope up with their situation and deal with their difficulties however Anita unfortunately still

needs improvement, through this study we will research on what could be done by the parents

and the teachers in order for Anita to reach development and betterment in dealing with her

situation.
