In his fifth week of training, the author was assigned to export files from an accounting software into Excel files to reveal unpaid balances by region. They taught him to do this chronologically for all regions from Region 1 to BARMM. It was a fun learning experience and he learned from his new section head and mentor.
In his sixth week, the author continued the same task and got better at it by applying lessons learned from mistakes. He was given a preview of his next task, which was to combine uncollected amounts by region to balance with the ledger schedule. This was more challenging as descriptions did not always match bills. The mentor taught him to use the accounting software to locate accounts and understand discrepancies. The author felt

Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City Week 5 Summary No. of Hours
In my fifth week of training,
they have assigned me a different task to a different section in the office. They taught me to export files from EN-GAS (accounting software) which is regional Regular Agency Fund and Internally Generated Income uncollected fees to be put on an Excel file. I did that chronologically based on the schedule of subsidiary ledger. The purpose is to reveal the September 12, 2022 to 97 Hours balance or the unpaid bill by September 25, 2022 regions. I did that for a week because I did all regions from Region 1 to BARMM. Overall, it was full of fun experience because I get to know my new section head there and I learned a lot and got inspired since my mentor is a board passer.
Moral of the week:
What I learned is that, you have to be attentive while doing your task because at your first try, since some things are new to you, you make mistake. If you are attentive, you will spot the mistake and ask your mentor about the things that you struggle on. It was a very fruitful week and they are very generous too because they always give me snacks during afternoon breaktime.
Week 6 Summary No. of Hours
During my 6th week in
training, I still do the same task I was assigned. But this time, I got used to it and I applied what I have learned from my mistakes and from my mentors. In that week, they also gave me a heads up to my next task which I did in the last day of the week. What I have to do is to combine the uncollected amounts per region and the total must be balanced based on the schedule of subsidiary ledger. This time the task was more challenging because you have to match the particulars or description of collections to the billed amounts particulars or description. I was challenged by that because some description does not have any dates on it, so I have to ask my mentor where to put September 19, 2022 to these collections that doesn’t September 22, 2022 match any billing amount 125 Hours from that specific subsidiary ledger. They taught me how to locate the account in the general journal using EN-GAS (accounting software) to know what is the reason behind that account that sometimes have negative and some did not match the billing amount.
Moral of the week:
It was a challenging week for me. I can say that my learnings during the 6 th week of my training are developing and so I also got new knowledge and what I have learned in my accounting subjects are finally in front of me. And it was good. My knowledge about basic accounting was tested by my mentor and I’m thankful because I answered all of that. Face to face on-the-job training is already getting me good and I’m thankful that I get to experience that since the pandemic.
