Question: How to configure a mesh network with EasyMesh Wi-Fi routers?

To configure a mesh network, you will need two or more D-Link routers with support of the
EasyMesh function. One of the routers connects to the Internet and serves as the controller, other
devices connect to the controller via Wi-Fi or with an Ethernet cable to serve as agents and
extend the network.

Controller: Ensures the centralized configuration of agent devices, controls the roaming of
clients and determines the best data flow routes between agents.

Agents: Serve as Wi-Fi access points for client devices, gather data on their connection quality,
and execute commands from the controller.

Before you begin equipment configuration:

1. Prepare at least two D-Link routers with support of the EasyMesh function.
At present, you can connect up to 6 devices with EasyMesh support: 1 controller and 5 agents.
Configure the device with the best technical specifications as the controller.
2. Restore the factory default settings with the hardware RESET button on each of the devices.

Step 1. Controller setup

Access the web-based interface and launch the Setup Wizard. On the Device Mode page,
select the EasyMesh connection method.
Specify the following parameters:
 Connection method: EasyMesh
 Device Role: Controller
 Work mode: Router
Click the NEXT button and follow the steps of the wizard to finish configuration.

Step 2. Agent setup

Access the web-based interface of an agent device and launch the Setup Wizard.
On the Device Mode page, from the Connection method list, select the EasyMesh value.
Then from the Device Role list, select the Agent value.
Click the NEXT button and follow the steps of the wizard to finish configuration.

Step 3. Connecting agents to the controller

Connect the controller and agents into a mesh network using one of the methods described
below.

Method 1. Connection with an Ethernet cable

Connect an agent device to a LAN port of the controller with an Ethernet cable. Wait 2-4
minutes for the agent to receive all mesh network settings from the controller, including SSID
and password.

Make sure the connection is successful. To do this, in the web-based interface of the controller,
on the EasyMesh page, check the information on connected agents.
Method 2. Connection with the hardware WPS button

Press the WPS button on the controller and an agent (or an agent and an additional agent).
Important! Do not press the WPS button on more than two devices simultaneously.

Wait 2-4 minutes and make sure the connection is successful. To do this, in the web-based
interface of the controller, on the EasyMesh page, check the information on connected agents.

Method 3. Connection with the ESTABLISH CONNECTION button in the web-based interface

Press the ESTABLISH CONNECTION button in the web-based interface of both devices.

Important! Do not press the ESTABLISH CONNECTION button on more than two devices
simultaneously.

Wait 2-4 minutes and make sure the connection is successful. To do this, in the web-based
interface of the controller, on the EasyMesh page, check the information on connected agents.

Your mesh network is configured. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to connect additional agents.
