Lesson Plan in Reading and Writing Skills


I. Objectives:
A. Content Standard: The learner realizes that information in a written text may be selected and
organized to achieve a particular purpose.
B. Performance Standard: The learner critiques a chosen sample of each pattern of development
focusing on information selection, organization, and development.
C. Learning Competency Objective: The learner describes a written text as connected discourse.

IV. Procedures:
A. Presenting the new lesson
Students are group into 5 groups each group should have a leader, secretary, documenter, and a reporter.
Listen and watch this video clip carefully, then have a brainstorming of what you they have watch and
create a creative presentation out of it.
B. Establishing the purpose of the lesson.
In this lesson, you’ll discover how connected discourse is used in different aspects.
C. Presenting examples / instances of the new lesson
Students are group into 5 groups each group should have a leader, secretary, documenter, and a reporter.

What connected discourse that you have notice from the video?
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills # 1
Discuss the concept like cohesion and coherence, proper mechanics, morphology and morpheme.

Discuss the concept in Context Clues
Example: The narrator in the poem was euphoric at his son's victory, for he cried out triumphantly when the boy
came home. - victorious; triumphant; very happy and excited 1. Synonyms - used when the text has words or
phrases that are similar in meaning to the unknown word euphoric
F. Developing Mastery
This situation is a conundrum – a puzzle. Humpty Dumpty took great pleasure in obfuscating the poem's
meaning to Alice. His explanations about the poem were confusing and complicated. obfuscating - making more
difficult to understand; confusing
G. Finding Practical Applications of Concepts and skills in Daily Living
Do the activity that is found in your worksheet.
H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson
Ask the student using the questions that can lead the student to form generalization by stating concept of
connected discourse
